seeing them at minehead, hoping it won't be as crowded as
when aphex played there last year but in all probability it
will.

What does Earthleakage think about Paul Morely's PR piece?
That's what I want to know.

What's the possibility of them playing the same set all
over?

but it includes ultra-sexy artwork of a circle, modified in
5 seconds with a brush in adobe illustrator! you know you
cannot resist that.

normally i'd agree with you but look at what you get

- Double heavyweight 180gram vinyl, each disc packed in its
own printed inner and outer card sleeves

- 900mm x 600mm double-sided poster printed on Offenbach
ultra fine stock, folded within its own card sleeve

- Housed in printed and debossed rigid slipcase

while i didnt get the quaristice ltd edition, it was clear
that a lot of care went into that little package. i trust
this vinyl set will be really great to have in your crate,
collecting dust.

btw whats debossed? embossed inside out?

It means the slipcase will be made of cannibalized Debussy
dust sleeves.

he has 2 modes of operation:

1) in the months leading up to a new autechre album, he
pretends to have secret access to it and posts samples of
the tracks, which are really fakes he and his 1 friend have
made

2) after the album comes out, he posts about how bad it is
and gets upset that autechre didn't make the album he was
trying to imitate

What's the carbon footprint of this monstrous folly? They
should have done a biodegradable AFX and just re-released
the old EPs like "Anti" and "Anvl Vapre" as downloads with
bonus off-cuts on a web site authored in Frontpage Express

what is the advantage/pros of double heavyweight vinyl? just
curious. does it have some different relationship to the
needle?

Points: 14867 Status: Regular | Followup to cygnus: #02359292

i always thought the thickness meant the grooves can be
deeper so the needle can go up and down further which
probably relates somehow to the sound quality

Vinyl Science

ah. yeah i was thinking the reason was the tracks were so
bassy that peoples subs would be bouncing the record all
over the place and so they made it heavier...

go see them in the melkweg Amsterdam and I hope nobody
screams this time..

Ok, so no bonus disc version like the special edition
Quaristice, but keep an eye out for the Japan version 'cause
they usually add a bonus track or two on the end.

If it's as good as Quaristice, I don't think I'll bother.

As much as I'd like to buy it on vinyl:

1. My turntables are now gathering dust in the attic.

2. £30? No thanks.

I don't even think I'll get it on the dodgy download. Unless
they return to pre-Confield sounds, I'll only listen to it a
couple of times and feel inadequate for 'not getting it.'

I just found a biscuit crumb on my keyboard, which I ate. It
was a bit stale.

quaristice isnt having the replayability for me as previous
albums

i understand the context it was made in - but man.

and ill hold off to see if i can get a copy of the vinyl
package over here.

im not paying almost double the vinyl cost just due to
shipping.

Been listening to Quartistice a lot since the Oversteps
announcement. It's definitely grown on me recently. Weird
how the later Ae albums seem to get better the older they
get. The more you put in the more you get back. Or
something.

Quaristice is good. Confield is god.

Oversteps aesthetics is of course even so similiar to
Hangable Auto Bulb. Also Designer's Republic?

I don't know what this Designer's republic shit is.

They're paying someone to draw a black circle? I thought
they used to do their own artwork. I like that idea a lot
more.

How come people here jock the designer's republic, why are
they so special?

Agreed, the design is a bit poor, but then so was Quaristice
(apart from the laser cut metal edition -- which has pride
of place in my CD rack).
