You guys wont believe the stirr it caused in Denmark. ITs
getting bigger and bigger every day, its completely fucked
up!

Maybe those drawings werent a great idea, but this is
certainly an overreaction from the muslim society.

The worst thing about the case is that a few danish people
made the whole nation of denmark hated, and a few extremist
muslims make all the "normal" muslims in Denmark and any
other countries suffer as well. FUCK!!!

I'm not saying they're excused, I'm saying people who want
them to be more like "us" should take a step back and
think...

I don´t really blame them. In my eyes, this whole conflict
has been waiting to erupt, in a sence, and it was only a
coincidence that Jyllands posten set it off.

what you see again and again is people trying to
oversimplify - you see it a lot in this thread too.
something like this is very complex. it's not a question of
the cartoonist was wrong, or the paper was wrong, or the
protesters are wrong.

also, islam is in essence a very peace-loving religion. it's
only a couple of idiots who reinterpet it in a way that it
can be used for violence.

I pretty much agree with that Lee Herring bit. he puts it
very well.

it is down to interpretation but violence is more easily
justified in the koran compared to other religions

Extract from "the cow"

"[2.7] Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their
hearing and there is a covering over their eyes, and there
is a great punishment for them."

Just one example from sifting over it.

it might in essence be peaceful. but the culture in the
islamic countries isn't imo.
i guess it's just different cultures but im not too happy
with the picture the protesters in palestine had that
portrayes the ambassedor being cruely killed. goddamn, hamas
is now the leading party there. that was a protest vote of
the people against plo i think but still all of this
signifies serious dangers for our safety to me

Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
Exodus 22:18

Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.
Exodus 22:19

He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only,
he shall be utterly destroyed.
Exodus 22:20

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman,
both of them have committed an abomination: they shall
surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Leviticus 20:13

..do you need more?

oh, i went out for a while and haven't caught up with the
thread.

i think the violence is rediculous though. almost completley
indefensable. and i do think the protesters who have
elevated their protests to violence are very much in the
wrong.

i think the papers should have the "right" to print the
cartoons, but frankly an editor would be irresponsible to do
so given the current environment.

my point was more that by saying "islam is violent" you're
doing the same as the people who use islam to justify their
violence. it isn't islam that is violent, it is a portion of
its regular readers that are.

a good talkshow here 'rondom tien' had people talking about
the threats people are receiving these days (hot topic here
of course with politicians and 'artists' being killed)

one dude said: well that's always been the case but in the
old days (80s and stuff) people didnt talk to the press
about this, just the police

i dunno, i do think things are a bit different if the death
threats come from the islamic side. because they're shown to
carry them out. however western groups (that thing in spain,
what's it called again, rote armee fraction etc) have done
this too so maybe it's just a gut feeling like 'well at
least it's our terrorists killing us. and the feared
enemy: we don't know the terrorists, they are dangerous
because they're hid out etc

And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and
the father the child: and the children shall rise up against
their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
Matthew 10:21

And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not
hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the
people.
Acts 3:23

Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such
things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have
pleasure in them that do them.
Romans 1:32

I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew
this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the
land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
Jude 1:5

And I will kill her children with death; and all the
churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins
and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according
to your works.

my point is disqualifying with the generalisation argument
isn't going to cut it if we have a problem of a violent
culture turning against us.
im just worried about palestine and hamas' program that says
israel should be destroyed (i guess these people are talking
quite literally generally). im talking about the small
percentage of terrorists. but im also talking about maybe
the muslims are generally radicalizing and what this will
mean for the west (my ass that is)

we kind of have to oversimplify. We obviously don't
have sufficient knowledge to be supreme unbiased judges on
this matter, and I don't expect anyone would ever have that
much knowledge. We simplify because we don't know better,
but that in itself isn't a bad thing.

wow, thanks, those will be damn useful in heated debates.

i guess on the topic of which book is the most dangerous
it's really down to social circumstance (general attitude to
violence etc.)

you won that argument there though

well for some reason i always feel like defending the
journalists: in this case the responsibility lays with the
threatened people going to the press

fun fact: some said hirshi ali (who is getting pretty famous
in the world, she's a politician and a former muslim going
against the wrong things in islamic culture, imo in the
wrong, too blunt/arogant way) is doing this to get more
votes. for instance by debatting in parlement with a load of
bodyguards. i don't particularly agree with this as it's
mainly shit to be threatened

oh, btw.. it isn't just Iran (whose president apparently
just ordered that all trade contracts with all countries in

angry.. People are raging in Indonesia and basically
wherever there are muslims. This isn't necessarily connected
