Yes, I suppose. I wonder if we can all talk about the New
York Times Top TV Shows of the 21st Century
and not
succumb to sectarian violence?

It'll be the Ross Noble dig. I've had that in my back pocket
for about 10 years.

left right left right center right left kick your heels and
turn. We are all line dancing to Reniform Pulse

I'm tired of people getting philosophical about murder with
their this and their that. Blah blah blah blah. Innocent
people get blown to bits is not nuanced. It's just wrong.

I enjoyed Ed Sheeran getting a spanking. Never heard of
Macklemore. He looks like he needs a good spanking too.

In fact, we all need a proper spanking and I don't mean the
fun kind!

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/10/27/new-york
-times-tom-cotton-oped-james-bennet/

there were things like this

i dont really remember clearly. all the articles out there
are paywalled and hard to find. google is worse at finding
anything. i skimmed the article and meant to come back to it
but wp walled me. lots of examples like this but maybe you
should dismiss em all as not being cancel culture because
cancel culture was never truly defined and particularly
clear. i just remember that leftists of various shades
argued for boycotts and deplatforming and decolonized spaces
and defunding police and attacking statues. there was lots
of talk of harmful language that would in turn cause direct
harm to minority bodies so all i tried to point out was that
a statement like free palestine could be met with the same
case because of how radical leftists have harnessed this
term when advocating for violent

anyway this sheeran drama is a demonstration of
'cancelation' flying in all directions and i think it wasnt
daily mail of me to point out that leftists played a role in
setting these trends

There certainly was a period where the perceived 'left' was
being extra about certain matters, and indeed, "cancelling"
people for whatever behavior was deemed inappropriate. The
virtue signaling went too far - people thought they were
better than everyone. There was "woke". And then the tide
turned the other way.

But lord have mercy are people beating a dead horse about
it. Whenever I hear the word "woke" I mentally check out.
It's being used as a weapon against people who have nothing
to do with the extremists on both sides - left right up the
arse - whatever the fuck.

These "culture wars" are an absolutely smokescreen used to
divide and distract people.

online dariusgriffin from cool on 2026-09-29 13:01 [#02647544]

But what “trends” are we talking about? Aren’t these
dynamics at least as old as mass media?

Should we be opposed to protest and “deplatforming” in
the absolute? I honestly don’t understand the position. Is
it bad to remove, say, a former Nazi official from his
political appointment? Is it wrong to demand it?

Why would I want to draw a moral equivalence between e.g.
protesting a scientific racism conference and christian
groups protesting LGBT events? Between boycotting a
misogynistic movie and a feminist video game? This is
nihilistic nonsense.

Some causes are worthy, some causes are evil. We might
discuss the means of action internally.

Also I’ve seen so, so much press about “the crazy left
and their unhinged demands” that boiled down to a few kids
reacting to a mass media thing on twitter or tiktok, like
just saying things, debating, making jokes. It’s just
fucking gossip. You’re reading gossip.

Also, yeah, in a year there's a very fair chance I'll be
living under a transparently corrupt, incompetent and
spiteful far-right government that'll make even their voters
miserable, all because people need to have a go at the
wokes. Not only does it induce a bit of anxiety, it's
annoying!

Don't worry, your friends Hamas are safe, holed up in luxury
hotels in Qatar, which they can afford thanks to the
billions in aid they receive from idiots like Mackleberry.

Or they're settling here in the UK, paid for by the taxpayer.

building on Savile Island.

Oh, Savile Island... see the thing is there, it was the
establishment, and the sainted BBC that shielded him and let
him carry on. If the general populace had known there
wouldn't have been mass protests in defence of him, no
crying about Savile-phobia. There wouldn't be Community
Leaders pushing to the front saying that it was unfair and
whatabout, I don't know, Israel. Do you see the difference?

If there's entrenched sexual abuse in this country, if
there's a country-wide network of abusers and facilitators
and ideologically, inter-generational, family related,
religiously motivated rapists, it's not made up of daytime
TV presenters or long dead Light Entertainers. It's not made
up of people who think Gary Glitter was hard done by.

oh lol I'm sorry for the side quest.

Look the point is, if the accepted treatment for harbouring
Hamas is carpet bombing until not a single building is
standing, and if you openly admit that Mountbatten-Windsor
Island is now harbouring Hamas…. well, where does that
leave us?

no first hamas would have to:

- take over england and collapse democratic representation
then turn the entire place into a network of tunnels
intended to serve military purposes.

- launch a surprise intrusion on a neighbours border and
kidnap a bunch of hostages including a baby while firing
thousands of rockets indiscriminately into neighbours
territory from residential areas.

- loudly declare that if they arent defeated then they will
repeat the above.

then someone would have to flatten it basically yeah. there
wouldnt be much of a choice

Every single fact based argument pointing out the absolute
retardation in the progressive left (via college
institutions, television and game writing, and even policy)
darius writes off as "social media propaganda."

China is all state news nailing people shut in their homes

say you're indoctrinated by capitalism.

It's the down syndrome playbook. I don't care about a

Ben Franklin sold me on some ideas. Can't you just fucking

Any new blood you losers get are tech bros training

The easiest way to attack my argument is to call me right
wing (i'm not), say I voted from trump (I didn't), or say I
get all my opinions from twitter (not on it).

I wanna vote for Ben Franklin. Barring that I'd like a
defected classical liberal democrat.
