ok so what happened is activist left spent last 10 years insisting on cancelling and attacking people for small statements and perceived aggressions. then hamas killed a bunch of unarmed people and filmed scenes like the flash sequences from event horizon. this made the left very happy so they excitedly took statements like 'free palestine' and loudly declared such statements are a support of revolutionary violence and a call to 'globalize' this revolution. many on the left are then shocked that they can be cancelled too for statements that are perceived as aggressive. they have been unable to understand that what they do to others can be done to back to them (for example by a rich jew who didnt want his money involved with a political cause he dislikes). this is because the left is full of psychopaths and creeps after a century of internal theoretical collapses and russian influence ops. this pushed out the normal people who naturally understand human basics like reciprocity |

i used the term 'activist left' which often refers to anarchists/communists/socialists although there is room to interpret this in ways that cover a wider or narrower range depending on your view. in this case 'the left' is a generalization describing people who have been using language and activism as a political weapon to advance a revolutionary struggle |

I don't understand this self flagellation that goes on amid the hard left. I mean sure I want an egalitarian utopia but I value woman's liberation and freedom of thought and religion above the ideals of medieval authoritarianism. I know the united states isn't exactly a Bastian of those ideals at the moment, but try and go to Saudi Arabia and ask them not to execute homosexuals, or go to North Korea, or Afghanistan and tell them they are bad. Its low hanging fruit I know the west is far from ideal in many many ways, but you'd have to be a complete cretin to want to live in a scientifically, illiterate and culturally regressive country. it’s a mix of cultural relativism, which really stems from undigested racist, i.e. noble savage shit, and west/american exceptionalism that leads one to see the world as a simple dichotomy between bad americans and good anti-americans. it’s very annoying but it’s an easy framework for “left” influencers to exploit for drama and advert money. so it’s not “self-flagellation” as much as big white saviour paternalism. i do think it’s important to distinguish between effective rights, like e.g. don’t be left to starve, don’t be hatecrimed, don’t be exploited, don’t be coerced into some bullshit, which you can have specific solutions for, and formal rights like “freedom of speech”, “freedom of thought”, which in the abstract don’t really mean anything at all. |

I certainly didn't bring up race, many if not most of the advances in Western civilization were predicated on stuff like mathematics and science from Mesopotamia, Arabia and china etc...
