I mean, the Campism wikipedia article has actually got a great bit about exactly why I think this sort of stuff is noxious. More broadly, "support" for a camp usually amounts to rhetoric and protest that yield no "concrete gains", because few campists hold political power and each "camp" is a massive entity. A "preoccupation" with "abstract" questions of foreign policy "has been historically corrosive for the left, leading to bitter fights over precisely those issues which we are least able to affect". And that to me is why these sorts of grand chessboard geopolitical issues attract so many cranks, conspiracy theorists and other assorted grifters and nazis. It provides you with a captive audience and endless whining and disaffection and barely any opportunity to affect anything. What are you going to do, the CIA control your whole world anyway.
