spain is looking pretty weak...except for vicente...

france and england are imo the two teams far superior to
anyone else...can't wait for tomorrows clash :)

nice goal by valeron... well set up by puyol (whose probably
been the best player on the field since i started

over morientes... ah spain... i'm a quite a fan

it sucks that the central defender for russia got red-carded
at the end... i don't think it was merited at all (a foul:
yes, a card: no)...

Yeah NACMAT.... ha ha. Cristiano Ronaldo was crossing the
ball to the far post 'cause he's used to Van Nistelrooy
beeing there with Manchester United.... hé hé. He has to
get used to him not beeing there during this tournament...
ha ha :) Im glad Greece won... A major blow... It's
awesome. :)

today

switzerland - croatia

france - england

(zidane, henry, trezeguet, pires, vieira, makelele,
desailly, thuram, lizarazu... omg what a team, its
frightening)

will lampard play since the begining with england? he was
great in this premier league

i was surprised by spain yesterday. if they're able to grow
during the tournament, they might be the next eu-champions.
greece is going to be the turkey/korea of the last
worldchampionships.

greece knows what they can do and what they cannot

they are good 0-0 defenders, and if the other team makes a
mistake they know how to get good profit out of it

greece won spain in spain in the cualification round...
indeed they were first of the group.
they are a very hard team to beat even though they have no
big names in the team, but they close space and its hard to
attack them.... portugal has it really hard now to pass

spain did an ok match... not bad not great

first 15 minutes were great by spain, but again we didnt
kill at all

then the russians, whom I didnt expect to move so well the
ball, started to take control of the play and tempo and even
got more clear oportunities to score (thank god for
casillas)

but thankfully the second half they were tired and spain
with the two changes did a much better performance, we even
deserved a second goal.

offline nacmat on 2004-06-13 03:58 [#01237638]
Points: 31271 Status: Lurker

I think its good to attack by the wings, but if thats the
only thing you do then you get previsible and that happen to
spain, we didnt alternate attack byt the centre with others
by the wings

change = surprise = goal

the only goal came due to a surprise = puyol attacking (when
he is a defender)

I know

but I dont see the reason, maybe as I am spanish I am a
little subjective?

but come on what the the referee do?

he was playing with his cards. and he loved playing with the
russians more than playing with the espagnols

yes but russians never stopped doing faults on vicente

I dont think the referee had any real consequence in the
game

well there was no penalty, no red card (till last minutes),
no unfair offside, no invalidated goals....

I dont think the referee really was a second rival for
russia by no means

the referee whistled tighter towards the russians. spain got
much more freedom

maybe but russians really did a lot more faults than
spaniards who maybe shouuld had seen one or two yellow
cards

but you think that was important overall?

offline goDel from ɐpʎǝx (Seychelles) on 2004-06-13 05:08 [#01237682]
Points: 10225 Status: Lurker

yes it played an important role. by whistling tighter
towards the russians (or however you say it in proper
english), the russians were obstructed in their game and
spain on the other hand was allowed more freedom to play
their own game.
i dont think it would have made much difference overall
though. spain was better. the russian defence was simply too
slow when the spanish were playing in their proper mode
(speed)

offline nacmat on 2004-06-13 05:12 [#01237685]
Points: 31271 Status: Lurker | Followup to goDel: #01237682

well, I shall be subjective in this but I dont see he was so
much tighter with russians... I just saw russians being
slower and therefor commiting more faults = more cards

but I understand that being spanish I dont have the correct
point of view.

well I am sure spain was better overall, and dereved even
one more goal

maybe it should have been a 2-1, russia never gave the
impression of winning the match

offline Aesthetics from the IDM Kiosk on 2004-06-13 05:13 [#01237687]
Points: 6796 Status: Lurker

it´s not about the cards, as a referee you can choose to
whistle at every tackle or to tolerate it
imo he did not tolerate anything from russia in the first
half

it´s difficult for me to explain exactly what I mean, but
the English football league is a good example
