don't you get loads of magazines saturating the market about
euro 2004? just buy one and read up on the teams. or some
piss poo pull-out from a newspaper with a chart to fill in.

that wouldnt be the first time.... korea hehehehe

btw, in 1/4 finals it would be very possible to see this
match:

spain - france

or

spain - england

(if these three pass I mean)

italy can probably put the strongest team together, they
have plenty of excellent players for every position, all
they need to do is to start playing more offensive.

Sweden

Yes, I also doubt France will win this EURO campaign,
looking at their last two matches. Henry was a shadow of his
Arsenal status and looked exhausted and Zidane has always
been waaaay overrated even though he's a certainly a gifted
player. Desailly is due to retirement and there hasn't been
a new Deschamps. And if Barthez is going to be the
goalkeeper expect some costly defensive blunders.

There's no outspoken favorites for this EURO2004, though if
the Dutch can get their shit together, especially mentally,
they might top it with an excellent mix of veterans and
young talents but they have a long way to go in what I
believe to be the most difficult group stage.

Btw tols, Italy is always a contender for the title exactly
because of the defensive way they play so they should
definitely avoid offensive strategies.

well, i will still cheer for france to win. and i don't
really think zidane is overrated :) he's the best there is,
and i enjoy watching him play very much...so i don't quite
agree :)
as for henry, i was never to fond of him, i prefer trezeguet
by far, one of best strikers around imo.

about italy, yes they can come pretty far with their style,
but they never get on top, coz you have to score if you want
to win. they have best defensive players imo (canavarro and
nesta especially), so maybe they should put more attention
to more offensive football...they hardly score, and they
have totti, vieri, del piero, delvecchio, montella,...no
other team has as many great strikers as italy...maybe
they'll change their style one day...

zidane overrated???

look, I am a barça suporter, so I hate real madrid, but
even so I tell you I have watched like half of the matches
real madrid has played in the last 3 seasons and zidane is
just a magic player, one of the best in history. overrated?
no way

but its true, he is tired now, and maybe his best days have
passed I dont know.... but till this year he was the best
without a doubt

What I meant is that it's ridiculous to see every single
move he makes as brilliant, which is obviously not the case
with Zidane or any other player ever, but this is just what
happens with him at the moment. He only needs to look at the
ball and people cum in their pants already, that's what I
mean by overrated, and I also don't think he's the greatest
football player of the last 50 years, in the top 10 for sure
but not the best. But that's all a matter of opinion
anyway.

As for saying no other team has so many great strikers than
Italy I'd have to say that Holland has at least as many and
better strikers and even most of the midfielders and
defenders are good goalscorers.

its finally here - the nacmatâ„¢ & wooferâ„¢ EURO2004 thread
;)

group A:
Portugal -2
Greece
Spain -1
Russia

group B:
France -1
England -2
Switzerland
Croatia

group C:
Sweden -2
Bulgaria
Denmark
Italy -1

group D:
Czech Rep
Latvia
Germany -2
Holland -1
^ this is immensely tough - Czech Republic should go
through .. but i have a feeling that Germany are going
through. Points differential (?) :'( ...

Q1:
Spain vs England
Q2:
France vs Portugal
Q3:
Italy vs Germany
Q4:
Holland vs Sweden

Wishful thinking - but i'd love to see a Holland vs Spain
(or Italy) final, which would also mean an Italy vs Spain
semi-final!

i havent followed the previous discussion and just wanted to
add that holland are soooo going to loose from the czechics.
it's their angst-gegner.

so in that pool:
germany 1st and
czech rep second

although the opposite reasoning is applicable to
germany-holland...i dunno
nah, the germans always win in the last minute, so after 80
mins the score will be 1-0 in favor of holland and after 90
mins 2-1 for germany. something like that

Yes, considering their hopelessly uninspiring "knitting
style" of play they displayed against Belgium and a coach
who stubbornly believes in just that worthless system I'd
say they're not gonna get far at all, as all the
teams in their poule are playing the way Belgium did, only
with better players.
They're just gonna let Holland play their stupid little
"safety play", smother the two strikers and wait for a
lethal counterattack, trust the Czechs and the Germans and
the Letlandees to do just that.
And also expect Holland to heavily underestimate Letland
and lose from them. But if they play like the 2nd half
against Faroer I'll give 'em half a chance.
It's no problem to go out in first round, cos
Holland/Germany is a final already, of course Holland has to
win that one, Germany isn't the same as back in the days,
although somehow they always do well in tournaments even
though they have such average players.

the painful truth, but perhaps holland's still got a card up
its sleeve. remember their win all/loose all match against
scotland? if they can reach that level again the germans
would be nowhere and even the czechs should be afraid.
holland would surely reach the finals. hopefully against
portugal or france (half final against italy?).

fucking'g dutch luck huh ...

the upside is that either way, the pool games promise to be
spectacular (i guess the hope is that it doesn't come down
to points differential). and yes, the germans have an
uncanny ability to pull it together when it counts, mm..

still i'm confident NL will make it no.1 in pool d ...

Another pathetic and poignant display by the Dutch tonight.
Still the fruitless embroider tactic without wingers that
"Dick" so stubbornly keeps believing in. I think the Dutch
can expect an early exit playing this tactic.
