I wonder if this album is going to be another "winner"

based on all of the god damn doepfer/buchla/analogue systems
shots he's got on his website you'd think trent is going all
synth on us... i'm interested in what the production is like
with moulder and atticus helping his ass out.

I think someone should just shoot him and steal his studio.

He's always had a wall of modulars kind of thing going on.
He said the last album was the first one he picked up a
guitar before a keyboard. So I am going to say he probly
isn't going to go any more 'all synth' than he ever has.

Personally, I would be happy with a NIN album if he quit it
with the singing. It was fine in 1995. That was 12 years
ago!

I like the majority of his stuff. He's definitely not
consistent though. He's made enough good songs to make any
new stuff he puts out at least worth a listen.

NIN doesn't seem like someone to even have future albums.
Downward spiral was like a complete punctuation
point/suicide.

Really looking forward to this on, sounds like its going to
be way better than With Teeth which was really, really
shit... before With Teeth i didn't think NIN could make a
bad album.

I do think this one will be really good though, less
mainstream and experimental from what i've heard. Going to
see NIN live for the first time next month, can't fucking
wait, hopefully he'll play a track or two from Year Zero
maybe?

i wish he woulda stopped with downward spiral and left us

I hope for Trent Reznor's sake this album isn't even
remotely close to the horseshit output that With Teeth ended
up being.

Please, please, please..... Trent, have a couple drinks
before you submit this to final mastering and reproduction.

Sobriety has proven to make you a fucked up late night frat
boy anthem churner.

exactly - the downward spiral and the singles was great,
haven't heard anything good from nin since then... Trent can
use how many modulars he wants to, the music sucks
anyway...

(The three DFA remixes of "The hand that feeds" are great
music though, Trent's music of today needs more handclaps
and discobeats :D )

if that's the worse song on this album, Year Zero could
actually be pretty good.

Without context, I'd say it is ok, but forgettable.

You know, it's funny.. Every studio photograph I see of the
recording process has him in this room FULL of serious gear,
where he's standing with a serious look on his face, etc..

Is it me or could you literally MAKE this whole album on
just a laptop, with a copy of NI Komplete, a moderate midi
controller, and a basic sequencer?

You could do a lot of things with a laptop, NI Komplete and
a sequencer.

It wouldn't be any fun to make though.
