Keep in mind sometimes early leaks are unmastered. Two
examples I can think of are Authechre:Untilted and
Radiohead:Hail to the Thief. There were leaked versions of
both of these and they didn't really sound so hot,
especially the Autechre one. When they actually came out
fully mastered though they sounded 5000x better.

This being sent I haven't heard the BoC leak but just
consider the amount of time it would take someone to make a
whole album and make it authentic enough to pass off. I one
were to go to that trouble, why wouldn't they just release
it as their own album.

THAT being said .. there are some dedicated loons in the world

I officially have to bring this thread back since its now
out...

OMG ITS AMAZING

First listen review :

- not much filler tracks (thats a good and bad thing)
- not much detuning
- acoutis guitars everywhere!!!
- Dayvan Cowboy
- not much voices (perhaps the limitation of 192kbps)
- did I say DAYVAN COWBOY!!
- The last track has a long silence, but there's something
in that silence ;)
- There's violins on Dayvan Cowboy! it feels almost
post-rock with this buildup.
- There's no crazy drum sounds like on Geogaddi that throw
you off, its very much all in the same mood

Great!

think I'll grow to like it even more.

All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain..we can be like they
are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...

Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity...Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday...Like Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday...Redefine happiness
Another 40,000 coming everyday...We can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...

Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared...saying don't be afraid
Come on baby...and she had no fear
And she ran to him...then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodby...she had become like
they are
She had taken his hand...she had become like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper

I don't like it because of the acoustic instruments.. it s
not that special anymore then their previews releases.. it s
more acessible for the masses! fits well into the new warp
policy thus..
I m dissapointed because I didn't expect this but its
fucking good produced stuff anyway, not crap like some here
named it

i like it, its pretty good... i'm not one to judge too
hastily but its a bit on the dandy/happy side for me... then
again boc has always fealt like that to me, with some really
stand out tracks on the albums.... i'm thankful for this
album solely because of "Peacock Tail"... that is an awesome
track.

standards. there is only one standout track, track 5, and it

it is pretty good

it is a good album

probably top 10 of the year

it is like you are discussing a chock rock album, not an

albums are suually in the best 3 or even 1 albums of the
year, not 'maybe it is in the top ten of the year'

fucking hell.

really... Music Has The Right and Geogaddi are hardly top 3

Don't get me wrong, it's nice music, but this new one is as

Someone just pasted this review (w/o attribution) on slsk
#idm, and I happen to agree absolutely:

[microphex] oh and to quote "I don't see how anyone can say
this is their best album. I've been a big boc fan for years,
but this is a pretty big disapointment. As feared, things
like Dayvan Cowboy tread dangerously close to some sort of
adult contemporary new age. I keep waiting for beats to drop
that never come. The album never really seems to take off,
it sounds stuck in some kind of hole it can't dig itself out
of. The addition of more guitars seems to add little to
their already established sound. What's missing most of all
the is the magic, the stunning tracks that build and build.
Instead you have a bunch of tracks that just sort of plod
along, most sounding pretty much the same. Peacock Tail and
Oscar See Through Red Eye are the only ones that leave
something of an impression, but even these pale in
comparison to their best tracks. It seems there's enough
material for a fair EP in all this, but certainly not an
album at the level we have come to expect from Boc."
