haha...did you actually think there was really an autechre
remix contest?

phobiazero and his xltronic crew are quite the pranksters
arent they?

Tumble weed skips across the board. Dogs howl in the

... do crickets chirp?

is the remix that was picked by ae one of the tracks that
can be voted for here?

or is it not there because it wasn't picked by the xltronic
crew, or was removed so the same person couldn't win both
events..?

great contest idea, though.. the remixes i've listened to so
far are great.
thank you for doing this!

can we post links to mixes that didn't qualify rather than
wait for them to get posted here?

really great. Since mine didn't qualify, it is here:

I've narrowed it down between

13
96
110
141

this will be tough.

why are there no titles for the tracks? i'd like to listen
to the remixes and then hear the originals to compare

offline AlbertoBalsalm from Reykjavík (Iceland) on 2003-07-09 22:47 [#00772468]
Points: 9459 Status: Lurker

this is how i'm approaching my decision:

first i pick out 5 rmxs that i like the least. that will
narrow it down to 10 rmxs i'll save as a playlist. after
listening to that list for a number of times i make another
one with 5, and then one with final 3 trax. and from those 3
i'll pick the one i like the most

16th"

offline Q4Z2X on 2003-07-10 00:34 [#00772512]
Points: 5264 Status: Lurker

why is everyone showing their remixes? isn't it possible
that autechre picked a mix that is not on the list of ones
to be voted on.. so if yours was the one picked by them
you'd be disqualifying yourself, and they'd have to pick
another?..

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2003-07-10 00:39 [#00772514]
Points: 14042 Status: Lurker

no, this annonymous thing is just for the peoples choice
vote. Its so people wont play favorites, picking friends
etc...

there is that prize

then there is the AE prize. AE is listening to all 180, and
picking thier favorite. Unless AE frequent this board (which
I doubt?) its not a problem, because they know who made the
tracks.

its 2 seperate things... the AE prize has nothing to do with
the peoples choice prize

offline Q4Z2X on 2003-07-10 00:42 [#00772517]
Points: 5264 Status: Lurker | Followup to Q4Z2X: #00772512

i'm really much more interested in hearing which mix
autechre picked.. cause they'd recognize all the bits of the
tracks much more than the average joe/jane on this board
here would.. especially when we all don't even know what
original songs these are coming from..were just voting for
the "coolest" song, not at all really considering the source
material..

offline Q4Z2X on 2003-07-10 00:52 [#00772522]
Points: 5264 Status: Lurker | Followup to Zeus: #00772514

yeah i know it's entirely seperate things, but it doesn't
really say specifically, it just says you're disqualified if
you reveal your track to the public..

what you're saying does make sense though.. i don't think
there would be any way that it would matter if anyone heard
the winning track before ae actually anounced which they had
picked..

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2003-07-10 00:57 [#00772523]
Points: 14042 Status: Lurker

it says "if your remix has been qualified, do not reveal
it"

it only applies for the Peoples Choice.

offline Q4Z2X on 2003-07-10 01:23 [#00772530]
Points: 5264 Status: Lurker | Followup to Zeus: #00772523

well, i was just reading the message on the xltronic front
page.. it's not as specific.. it just says "Do NOT reveal
your track in
public as it will get disqualified if we find out."
i
didn't read the message for the poll in it's entirety, until
now..but..
i stand corrected..

i've also heard some really good ones, so it's gonna be a
tough decision.

offline Jarworski from The Grove (United Kingdom) on 2003-07-10 02:34 [#00772563]

Do you vote for the best track then, or the best
"transformation"? Because if the tracks aren't titled,
you're going to have to have a substantial knowledge of Ae
to recognise them all, and I don't know them that well. I'll
just have to vote for the one I think is the best "song".
Hope the d/l speed is good too, the site went down last
night just as I was about to start getting them, hopefully
unrelated.

I can't wait to hear all these. Judging by the standard of
stuff I've heard from this board before they'll be stunning.
Although some music from this board is utter pretentious
shit. But mainly it's all good.

It's a point though, hows anyone who isn't really into Ae
gonna be able to tell how much of it is the remixer and how
much is pure Ae.

gonna burn them to cd in a minute. At first i didnt like the
idea that we dont know the autechre track remixed but i
guess that will make the listening more intresting guessing
the original track.

Well done to all involved and well done to the organisers as
i know exactly what a bitch it is to sort out :)
