A few years ago Warp released shit like Merzbow/Haswell and
now they put out lame bands put out by girly men in tight
pants and shitty 80's fashion sense.

warp used to be the dopest shit around, you cant compete
now they are just another meh lable, with a few outstanding
acts

cause they came to their senses that Merzbow and Haswell is
a bunch of placeless recreational noise. the band think
isn't a move forward either, but charging $150 for a special
20 year box set, i can see. shit economy - desperate times.
and at least they're acknowledging what they are really
about by talking Ae and BoC.

I just think its a joke that warp used to/might still love
thier fans the those who buy from them, goodies and such,
then they go and release a box set that only a few people
will actually buy and enjoy, seems kinda weak

ehm, yes there would....

@cx: we already paid them once, remember? buying an actual
album in record shops back in the days (because, well it's
been a long time ago). you want to (re)pay them even more?
you could send them a monthly check or something if that's
what makes you happy.

I love Warp. Many of my favorite music discoveries came from
artists on their label. Some people here have forgotten how
bland the electronic music scene would have been in the 90's
(and very early 00's) without the likes of Aphex, Ae, 2LS,
the AI CDs, Anti-Pop, Clark, Squarepusher, Brothomstates...
and yeah, I'd even toss in Mira.

It's rare than I'm a fan of a record label because of the
number of quality acts on it's roster. I'm not 100% in
agreement with how their putting together this box
(pre-ordering without a confirmed track list), but I'll
likely order it soon.

Besides... the next 20 years will be very hard to live up to
what has been achieved so far.

I think the title of this topic should be "Bhuaa! I can't
afford the new Warp Boxset", and incidently, bhuaa! I can't
afford the new Warp Boxset. A couple of years ago I may have
initially grumbled but then bought it, like I've done with
every Autechre album. But now, clad in years old rags and
eating paste, I can ill afford this deluxe item.

It's worth what you'll pay.

I'm willing to pay that price so it's worth it to me.

At least they're releasing something good for a change.
There's been pretty much fuck all but shit on that label of
late. I used to look forward to every release and would buy
a majority of them. I think I've bought 2 or 3 albums in the
last couple of years from them. It's the same with Rephlex.

A few years ago I think I got something from WarpMart nearly
every week because there was so many good releases. What the
fuck happened?!

if warp continued to only release music of an "idm"
nature...it would go bust. think it was a smart investment
to release other talents. perhaps not as interesting but
wwhoo harr, if it means the label stays a float so the likes
of BoC, Ae, Clark etc. can release music, it's not a sh*t
label. its not THAT bad - better than most pop/rnb hits.

battles are pretty tight live (in poland). it's not often i
listen to their album though...would warp be granted a cut
from their signed musicans whos touring?

idm worse than guitar music
american interpretation of aphex career spread mostly by
americans from 2000 when teh messageboards for the aphex
websites became popular. fake lie misconception philosophy
interpretation. detroit techno was so awesome, waht happened
to america? flashbulb kid606 got pooed out of america. that
was the real idm. worst music of all time. shame the 19 year
old australians on lastfm dont know the real history

warp will never change
i dont want warp to change direction
giving warp money is supportting shitty rock bands not the
electronic music community
if we stop giving them money they'll stop existing
warp too greedy, selfish, out of touch
only the sillyest of sheep will give them money :P (imo)

the future is in making our own electronic music stronger
having a laugh with electronics and music for getting pissed
and sloshed down the nightclub dancing with fit women or
chillin out with a can of guinness on the patio
make our own vinyls and doing electrnics in college so we
can build our own gear collaboration projects like analogue
dx7 and yamaha gx1 KILLER

warp just britney spears level
just greed for money
making money is not bad, but warp just pure greed for
greed's sake and it's lame and the blue sheepies who still
deify warp are a sad sight

Even though I try to laugh the term 'IDM' off. It still
makes me want to go fucking incredible hulk mad, kick my
front door down and start ripping up trees and benches +
picking people up and biting their heads off. Maybe pop a
couple of human heads imbetween my thumb and index. Do a
twin towers with my dick as a plane.

Even when RDJ + GWC invented the term Braindance to try and
take the piss out of + make the term 'IDM' defunct, people
who actually listen to the music in question still
use the bullshitty twatty American term years later.

And cwnt... flashbulb and Kid 606 arent the problem. You're
just holding the fact that they're American + very
influenced by ppl like Aphex, against them. I like their
music. They're not fucking IDM either.

Grr. Huff. Puff etc.
