Battleship Potemkin - 5/5

I am astonished this film was made in 1925, way ahead of its
time

Duelle (1976) - 3.5/5

If you like looking at ladies of the supernatural sort (hint
hint), then this movie is for you. It's a dark, dense movie
about only God knows what. Plenty of passageways to be
crept through, that's for sure.

"Karhozat," "Durian Durian," and "Happy Go Lucky" all
receive B s from me. The films follow a hopeless man/beast,
a sacrificial sex-worker, and a sassy embodiment light,
respectively. Psychology with style is the name of these
games, speaking of which, the new B&W murder mystery "The
White Ribbon" gets a B+/A-. Why don't you watch these,
tonight?!

This movie just made me really uncomfortable to be around
the others in the theater. I am disturbed by it.

Inception - 3.5/5

It was a good movie, but I suppose it could have been
better. I don't know, it seems that Nolan tried to find an
even ground between a sophisticated, intellectual science
fiction movie with a popcorn summer flick, so the
interesting ideas brought up are not developed to
satisfaction. It was good though I guess. It was far better
than Children of Men, that's for sure.

And Ellen Page!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Inception 4/5

Amazing concept and as a whole well executed... just a
little too much pointless action lets it down a little in
the last third though. I would have preferred the
pacing/balance of the first half of the film.

The ending is crazy.

Memoirs of a Geisha 4/5

I think it's a great introduction to this subject. After
doing some research by reading the imdb board and wikipedia,
I conclude the image is adequate enough. The town looks
maybe a bit pretty, but that's what nobility strives for.
Also I don't mind the sad romantic story because that's what
Hollywood is about.

Geisha's are a pretty cool invention. They're like knights
of beauty, giving themselves to that goal.

Hollywood is about sex, drugs, violence.

Life is about sex, drugs, violence.

:: Hollywood is about life. :: Life is about Hollywood!

Though I heard they really fixed up around Hollywood, and
it's really nice now.

Ed, Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show (2009) - [4+ outta 5]
Not as nuanced and charming as the early episodes, but it
was a heartwarming conclusion to the series.

Putney Swope (1969) - [4+++ outta 5]
Fucking laugh out loud hilarious scenes, lotta absurdity,
and pacing is relatively contemporary for such an old film.
Hurray.

hollywood stories typically have two things: something that
needs solving and a romantic story (or arc).

furthermore hollywood is as moral or amoral as it's public.
if hollywood for instance puts too many white people in a
movie, or too much violence or whatever, it's because the
public wants that.

of course they have the power to change those bad things.
but i'm saying they're not the only culprit

kung fu kid. aka karate kid 2010

9/10 , twas was really great.

jaden is an awesome actor and the kung fu moves are slick.
jackie, as always= top notch, although he killed an
innocent insect in the begining of the film. but i forgave
him as it was humorous being CGI.

recent scifi-roundabout:

pandorum 7.7/10
eyeborgs 7/10
infestation 7.1/10 (quite cheap looking at times)
clash of the titans 7/10
kaena the prophecy 8/10 (creative french cgi)
the fountain 7.4/10
the returner 7/10 (ridiculous cute action)

despite some flaws (especially in eyeborgs wtf!) i enjoyed
watching all of these. some people would be put off by
cheepnis. just grabbed about anything interesting in scifi
from imdb i didnt know yet and still have about 30

to watch. looking forward to brazil and summer wars.

Eyes Wide Shut 10/10 seen this film about 8 times never
liked it before now i think its a wonderful satire about how
much of a complete willy tom cruise is. this is a film in
which cruise plays himself playing a character in a film and
shows himself up as the clueless slimeball braggard ( i just
made this word up) that he is. all in all a wonderful
masterpiece for all the family to enjoy.

inception - nice. it really wasnt bad at all. yknow
how the matrix used the computer world thing as a gimmick
that the film fully exploited visually and everything. well
i think inception could have had a bit more fun with some of
that dream stuff thats all.

inland empire - this was a surprise cos i tried to
watch it when i bought it ages ago and said FUCKOFF DAVID
YOU POOF but i seriously enjoyed watching the whole thing a
second time around. theres bits im not mad on, a lot of
bits, but theres a lot that i seriously like. love a lot of
bits in it actually.

karate kid not bad not bad. nothing to really be
faulting here. its how to correctly modernize a film imo but
it shouldnt be done with a classic, so im surprised this
worked out ok. it dosnt replace the original in any way but
still manages to be a worthwhile retelling

sunshine yea that danny boyle one. the night i
watched it i was in the mood for space so it delivered
there. but the whole thing got silly and even before that it
was overwhelming itself with epic story.

moon more space. i liked this. very tranquil tone,
maybe too slow. it somehow keeps you feeling sort of
charmed. i liked the ending a lot. yea this was nice

predators - i dont understand. its hard to make a
film and i know rodriguez wanted to make something good here
so it wasnt just cashing in on a franchise, but shit it
really feels like it just cos the film is so void and crap.
if you were going to make a predator film..cmon..youd have
some fun with the predator technology, some traps, lots of
violent bits, lots of suspense. it wouldnt be any more
expensive to do it like that. i honestly think good story
telling is slipping

coraline - half like half dont. but its nice. really
great to watch with a kid. i really like the last 30 minutes

That film is actually brilliant. I must watch it again!

I'm going back a few months I think, here's some I
remember:

Inception - 9/10 - I thought it was a superb film, excellent
plot with a nice interpretive ending at the end which gave
you something to chew over afterwards. I could write
paragraphs on it (and I might have done in an inception
thread? My memory is hazy) Fantastic cast and score too.

Predators - 4/10 - Really?! What was the point of this?
Bought very few ideas to the mythology and was so desperate
to recall the first movie that at times it came across as
parody.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World - 8/10 - Took me a while to get
in to the books which I dismissed as trash at first but the
film gripped me almost instantly and held me until the end.
Wrights style is perfect for this although the speed at
which events happen causes the end to loose a large chunk of
emotional impact in my opinion. It seemed as if Scott and
Ramona's relationship was barely a few weeks long due to the
subtlety of changes that indicated time passing and the
person I saw this with who hadn't read the book didn't pick
up on it either. The film, much like the comic, is a love
letter to video games and pathetic manchilds and an
excellent one at that. Pleasantly surprised.

Splice - 6/10 - Very interesting premise, bog standard
execution.

Machete - 5/10 - Entertaining in fits and bursts but laden
with an unnecessary and confusing message which made the
film boring in parts.

The Expendables - 3/10 - Seriously, what a waste of time and
money. You get all these people together to make a men on a
mission film and it turns out to be dull shite. Tut tut.

Jonah Hex - ?/10 - I couldn't even make it to the end.
Guff.

The Killer Inside Me - 9/10 - A staggering lead performance,
tight script and genuinely unsettling violence. Absolutely
brilliant.

Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans - 7/10 - Thoroughly
enjoyable if a little long. Nicolas Cage is good!

IP Man 1 - 7/10 - SO good to see a great Kung Fu movie
again. Haven't enjoyed one this much since Fist of Legend

IP Man 2 - 4/10 - Oh well, that didn't last long.

Prince of Persia - 3/10 - As part of an attempt at
socialising with my new house mates. My slagging off the
film didn't go down well. My choice from our limited
selection was Zodiac and they all hated it. Oops.

The Crazies (2010) - 6/10 - Actually had a good laugh
watching this, perfectly fine popcorn fare.

Repulsion - 7/10 - Fucking hell I felt drained after this.

The Human Centipede - 3/10 - Rubbish, the villain is dull,
the conclusion tiresome and the logic flawed. The film
screams exploitation without being even a little bit fun.
Nasty.

The Final - 2/10 - Just don't.

The A-Team - 5/10 - Blah blah blah. That's how this film
felt to me. 'Hey it's the van!' 'He's not getting on a
plane!' 'Cigars!'. Nice cast, just all over the top special
effects and fan service.

Robin Hood - 6/10 - I don't see why this got panned, it was
perfectly fine and actually quite funny in parts. Bit of a
damp squib ending but oh well.

The Jackal - lol/10 - Bruce Willis dresses up in a lot of
shit costumes in a crap remake. I actually enjoyed it
because it was shit, which was nice.

Machete - 7.8/10 - Aaalmost really good, but they
eventually cut down on the "cheeziness of B-films" slant,
which reveals just a mediocre story. WHY DEY DU DAT?!

Metropolis - 10/10 - Perfect score, and I'm not even
done with it cuz I can't stay awake. But from what I've
seen
, this was/is some next-level shit. Beautifully
shot, amazing effects-- and I'm thinking that this might
even be an Ultra Level perfect score, by actually also being
the first self-parody film; one-thousand levels of parody
spiraling into itself and breathing life INTO THE
UNIVERSE!!!

i like the concept of being sent back in time to an
alternative reality by inhabiting another persons body, but
if it was a different universe to ours then how would they
know it was the same bomber? might not of even happened, so
how can they clarify what is the same and what is not. i
feel the story lacked explanation of how this could of
worked.

Also at the end is it morally ok to continue to inhabit
another persons body that you have hijacked?
