See what you're saying man. I love the Evil Dead trilogy,
and its in a similar vein I guess. I should really watch it
through.

yeah, only 7/10... though it might be a 8/10, i thought it
was quite good but not a masterpiece.

i've seen new jack city (though it was a long time ago) and
boyz n the hood (just a couple of weeks ago) and i liked
them both too, should check out new jack city again.

i'll keep my head up for juice and poetic justice and thanks

it's thrilling. The less you read about it beforehand, the
better. Yes, some might find it shocking. In my theatre,
there was one walkout. And believe me, that doesn't happen
often in Finland. :)

But anyway, it's not painfully tortuous like Dogville or
Dancer in the Dark, so I guess it's almost a friendly movie
in comparison!

And it's only shocking to mainstream audiences. Those of us
who have seen extreme movies before may find it easier to
swallow and enjoy the ride. It's really an interesting piece
of film.

Dark City - 4/5

One of the best sci-ri films of the 90's, only let down
slightly by its ott ending and completely unexplained nature
of John Murdoch's powers. Similar to the Matrix only a lot
better.

Howl's Moving Castle - 3/5

Slightly disappointing Myazaki film, way too much going on
and not enough focus on plot... Calcifer the fire demon
drags a 2 rating to 3 for being so damn funny in all his
scenes, animation is outstanding but no replacement for a
decent story.

Pi - 7/10 thanks to this movie now every smartass likes to
say "everything is math".

The Fountain - 7/10 the visuals are drop dead gorgeous.

The Prestige - 10/10 best movie of the 00's.

Memento - 8/10 the twist I sort of got it but it could go
either way, brilliant none the less.

Yes it's a great movie, need to rewatch it again in HD.

JCVD - I don't know if it was because Van Damme was talking
in his original language but he was incredible on this one.
6/10

Waking Life - A movie about dreams and philosophy, 7/10

The Fountain was nice the first time. The visuals are great,
but now the film feels a little forced. I'd rather have it
they'd abandon the scientist parts, rely less on the music,
and drop the (almost new age) orientalism. I don't know
what'd be left of the film, though. :P

Pitt was initially going to star in the role of Tom but he
declined, well thank well for that!

I'd say I liked The Prestige as much, if not more in some
ways, than both Batman movies Nolan did.

I have not yet seen any summer movies this year tho. Not
Star Trek, Terminator, nothing... Just haven't had time or
money to go out really.

I've been catching up on DVDs tho a little. Just saw The
Mist finally after hearing it had some Dark Tower tie ins
(kinda). not bad 7/10

for a low budget the special effects were amazing, there was
nothing in this film that looked cgi.

I really enjoyed Paranoid Park. I'd seen bits of it before,
and the info I'd heard of it felt so pretentious, I never
got around to see it.
But I instantly got hooked the first time Alex met the
police officer in the class room. Good films about teenagers
are rare. I'd put Serial Experiments Lain up there as well,
but since it's animated and quite far-out, I'm sure people
would disagree.

eXistenZ was far more enjoyable than I remembered. You know
you're in for a treat when Jude Law's character analyzes the
sensation of entering the game for the first time.
