Zoolander (which I loved)

rushmore - 5/5 - surely bob harris was modelled after herman
blume...the two characters are very alike. anyway, this
movie was such a pleasure to watch. it had some really good
acting too. "would you like a carrot?" -- she looks just
like a rabbit in that scene with her teeth sticking out. my
favorite scene is probably where max confronts blume in the
car, repeating what dirk wrote in the letter, its
completelely ridicilous and serious at the same time. i
suppose that contrast is what makes it so enjoyable
throughout...hilarity lurks at every turn. its probably one
of the best movies i've seen in a long time. its almost like
listening to selected ambient works for the first time, it
would probably be a good idea to put it away and not over
indulge so it doesn't lose the appeal. wes anderson is the
man, i've yet to see something by him to prove otherwise.

Batman Begins - **

Rubbish, took itself way too seriously and the director has
no idea how to direct action scenes.

Alphaville - ****

Possibly a 5/5 film but this is only the first time i've
seen it. Very strange and reminds me lot of 1984. Definately
requires repeated viewings. Really need to get some more
Godard films.

Sin City - ***

not too bad, a decent hollywood film

I thought the whole serious approach to batman begins was
perfect, although I'll have to agree with you for the
fighting scenes, it was just about as bad as resident evil
2.

chinatown - 3/5 - what an ending! i'm not used to this "film
noir" but damn, so the system is corrupt and that's that? no
closure for jack? grim stuff. i liked how each scene's mood
drastically changes to good effect (the music helped). "take
it easy" - jack nicholson is quite the character. if i
learned one thing from this movie its how to know at what
time someone leaves a place with their car.
