I think the design was very effective. I once heard George
Lucas talking to designers (it might've been on the EP1 DVD)
and telling them to draw their worst nightmares. And when
they did, he then said 'Now make them ten times worse!!!'

Good stuff - the behind the scenes materials!

episode 1 sucked.
gungans? what a lack of fantasy.

i read that too. and i saw some pics in a magazine a long
time ago and there were pics of early designs for darth
maul. one had long hair and looked like a witch or
something. it was ten times scarier than that gene simmons
painting.

Those pictures are from the ATOC storybook - I have it! I
had to hide it whilst I read the novel. I didn't want the
pictures in it to give too much of the story away. I think
its interesting how different things are when you imagine
them, and then see the characters, images in a book as such!

jedi chris: wrong. he told the designer to draw his worst
nightmare. and he thought it was a bit too scary so he said
"ok now draw your second worst nightmare!" :) ...btw i've
seen the picture of that first design.

I haven't put mine in my PC, as the label said 'will not
play on PC/MAC'

...which is a bummer, because at the moment, I have lost the
remote control for my hi-fi equipment, so its a pain in the
ass!

to much of this varience stuff w/ the merchandise is over
running me. figures w/ card backgrounds, figures w/ out card
backs, soundtracks w/ multipule covers while Target sells it
w/ a bonus track and Wal-Mart sells it w/ a screensave. to
much leaning toward the collectors market and walking the
thin line of selling out really. anyway those card
background in some of the figures look really cheap and
shitty. i just goe the ones w/ out cause the blue generic SW
card looks nice.

another thing. compared to the original 3logy soundtracks,
the Episode I soundtrack wasn't really all that good to me
(save for the opening theme and such). Duel of the Fates
didn't really do anything for me and the Anakin's Theme just
got old. those were supposed to be the big ones. ol' Johnny
may have done to may 'Stepmom' soundtracks over the years to
be able to pull the old magic back out right away. i hope
for better w/ AotC, opinions?

Star Wars and our generation's obsession with all things
Jedi is very sad. In the 60s they had drugs, revolution and
free love and we have hyped-up films, plastic merchandise
produced in the 3rd World and Playstations.

you know whats funny?

there are a LOT of starwars fans, obviously but there are
also a lot (not as many but..) of starwars freaks. THe
funny thing is, its like a contest who can be the starwars
freakiest because to be a "true" starwars freak you gotta
do some really freaky shit to stand out amongst all the
other starwars freaks.
I used to try to be a starwars freak. The freakiest
starwars thing i did was watch all 3 original starwars
movies simultaneously on 3 t.v.'s
Then i got to college and realized i am not as starwars
freaky as some other folk so i kinda gave up.
some freaky starwars shit i have heard of is:
1. obviously, those jack-asses here in seattle that have
been waiting in line for episode 2 since january. on the
sidewalk.
2. this girl who had the braid, a home-made lightsaber, and
a jedi robe that she actually wore to work regularly.
3. recycle, on this message board who claims to have bought
almost 400 dollars of episode 2 toys but, like most freaky
starwars collectors, will never take the stuff out of the
packages to actually PLAY with them.
4. that freaky girl i knew who would buy 2 sets of starwars
toys so she could play with one set and keep the other set
in the packages.
5. a message board thread that reaches 846 posts about a
movie nobody has even seen yet.

so tell me, who is the starwars freakiest here? what have
you done that is the starwars freakiest thing i will ever
hear?

i'm not the biggest sw freak here. though i love the series
and the books. there is a line in fandom that one shouldn't
cross. all those crazed star trek fans with their uniforms
they wear to conventions are dangerously close to insanity,
imo.

The freakiest? Well I once got my girlfriend to dress as
Jabba the hut and have me on a chain like that dancer. We
even got a goldfish bowl to recreate that bong thing he
smokes. Needless to say I came like the Falls.

evolume--------you freak :0)
and it was $360 at the midnight sale and about $120 the next
day on books and ect...(i took them all out of the packages
and play with them in my bath tub...i took the slave I out
and flew it as far as i could) im almost 28 do you dare
think id take any of them out of the package? my little
brother in big brother big sisters want them out of the
package.. NO WAY !!....ordering more packages for the larger
3 3/4" figures...since the reqular cases wont
fit.....ahhhhh...

i love star wars but wont name my kids after the movie (just
had a grooms millinium falcon cake at out wedding)

freaky stuff? well im not that freaky.
Im more of a anti-freak. i just like the films and the toys.
But there is one freaky thing i would like to do. I would
like to go to the premiere with "sido dyas" dressed up as
the hulk painted green over my body and sido dyas could be
dressed up as a shrimp. that would be really fun!
