Ultravisitor isn't even good. Squarepusher has run out of
ideas.

Drukqs.

I've actually been giving UV a more thorough listen

somewhere else.

I was way too harsh on UV in this thread, I gave it another
decent listen and there is good stuff in there, District
Line II is excellent, like bathing in drill'n'bass.

uv has tetra sync and steinbolt, so it gets my vote out of
pity, since the rest of it just isn't up to par.
drukqs is really the better album, and the be all end all of
drill n bass.

ultravisitor flows perfectly into drukqs, next time you have
a good few hours chilling at home queue both albums up and
listen to them through,... it's well wicked.

ultravisitor took me more time to get into than drukqs, but
now I like them both equally but in different ways,.. sorreh

i want more "complicated mathematical equation" type stuff,

Ultravisitor actually is like putting your ear up close to a
puddle of piss in comparison to Drukqs. I was listening to
Ziggomatic v17. It is better than Squarepusher's entire
catalogue. IMO.

no, not entire catalogue. Journey To Reedham from Big Loada
EP is cery good as for me.

"It is better than Squarepusher's entire
catalogue"

The beat tracks on druqs sound like cut n paste jobs with
fuck-all discernable thematic flow to them. RDJ even said he
worked on a lot of them while on holiday touring france...
and it shows.

As fro UV dancefrontdoor.co.uk sdays it best

"From his perspective, his challenge is to find the point of
tension between his two loves – his all-time passion,
playing bass and the drums – alongside the satisfying
mental absorption he finds in programming and sequencing on
a computer. To hold these two divergent ideas in his mind at
the same time, and imagine music that redefines emotional
intensity and explodes restrictive genre boundaries of
musical language – welcome to the odyssey that is
Ultravisitor. "

............. drukqs is to scatterbrained for an album. i
agree with most critic in saying his SAW2 album was his best
"studio" work. Beats wise, HAB, RDJ and his recent live sets
are far superior to the fisher-pricey percusiion on Druqks.
Just my opinion.

Definately Drukqs. So many good tracks on that album:
omgyjya, mt saint michel, hy a scullyas, qkthr, ziggo,
afx237, petiatil, cymru, taking control, ruglen
holon...they're all good!!

Actually Ziggomatic17 is my fav aphex track ever i think,
and one of my all time favourite tracks

but, sure, tetra sync is amazing too

Ultravisitor is better than Drukqs IMO cause UV has some
very good tracks (Ultravisitor, Iambic 9 poetry, Tetra-sync)
whereas Drukqs have nice tracks but not of the same level.

Drukqs is the kind of album that you like when you hear it
but after you forget it because it's filler from the first
song of the first CD to the last of the 2nd IMHO.

Richard D James releases no tracks those days cause he has
no ideas any more IMO. Squarepusher has become better than
RDJ because he works more on his tracks, he is more
serious.

Nevertheless those two artists are behind Autechre for the
textures, behind Venetian Snares for the rythmes and behind
BoC for the samples. Squarepusher is better for the
melodies, even if UV shows a starting lack of ideas (i hope
it won't last). Richard D James is better for nothing except
for beeing Richard D James and for having had the good ideas
at the good moment. But RDJ album remains the best IDM album
of all times to my mind.
