tough tough choice..... if uv didn't have so many "fillers"
i would have gone for that.

hobbes: if you saw SP live, you'd be into the "fillers"
more, i think. I think Drukqs is more fillerfull.

"I think Drukqs is more fillerfull"

could be, but at least it's more deveresed :)

don't get me wrong, live it makes more sense and i love his
bass fuck-uperies a lot. his latest 12" could be my fave
single this year. but yeah there's something with
ultravisitor i don't like....

offline KEYFUMBLER from DUBLIN (Ireland) on 2004-08-04 10:16 [#01295158]

"just a load of noise"..... yer talking to a hassel, afx,and
whitehouse fan here dude. noise is good.

"more deveresed ": not what i liked RDJ, SAW, ICBYD for to
be honest. i love UV cos it isn't too diversed.

at the end of the day its a peronsla choice thing .... but
its fun to have it out and i'm waiting for a teammate to
join me!!!

Ultravisitor is a bit wank IMO.
DrukQs, no contest.

........although Confield pisses all over them both

from a great, great height.

PS. Key - did my email cause offense?

(Earface... no way, was gonna reply just before leaving
work, when i'm got me thoughts together... in a few
minutes)

horsefactory.... phew!

Love Confield but i think UV and Drukqs are easier to
compare.

I like every song on DrukQs.

I only like 6 or so songs on UV.

DrukQs has lasted me almost every day since 2001.

Nuff said, it stands the test of time.

ultavisitor was my favourite album for a while...drukqs got
#1 again though. there really isn't a big difference in
quality between the two...and they are very comparable.

....O, no hurry or anything. Was just thinking about what I
wrote that's all.

Nice photo elusive.

Yeah, UV and DrukQs are in a similar vain I suppose.
Confield nonetheless :)

i think musically ultravisitor is probably one of the best
"idm" [yeah i know the term is shit , what shall i use?]
records ever , its moving into jazz really , and the
noodling parts in between are very interesting musically
again , but not exciting , but being an instrument player
they appeal to me alot. besides tunes like ultravisitor ,
iambic 9 poetry and tetra sync are so fucking good - so
layered and well paced. i love drukqs too ,but some of the
non beat based tunes .. just are pretty vague and pointless
, suprising considering afx has said the one rule to his
music is that it has to "do somthing to him" ..

both fantastic albums i think

scattered throughout.

What, are you kiddin' me?

Drukqs, now and forever dawg.

Better melodies, better drill (best drill I've ever heard,
come to think of it), no attempts at rap, no tired Amen
breaks.

:u)

IMO

The difference between the "filler" on Drukqs and
Ultravisitor is that on UV the interludes are well placed
transitions which give the listen as a whole some diversity
without breaking the flow. Drukqs, however, has some
excellent tracks that sound like he put a lot of time into
it, they go a lot of different places and and in general
just hit it up, and then these others that sound like a
little more than a pattern. I realize that Drukqs goes for
the sketch book idea, which seems cool in theory but imo
just doesn't work. What ends up is detailed, well flushed
out complete and excellent pieces on some pages and half
finished doodles on every other page.

Now what SHOULD be compared imo is something like
Ultravisitor and RDJ album. RDJ is like electronic
impressionism and Ultravisitor is organic electronics ..
both excellent albums.

eh......UV was a little disappointing. it's good tracks were
really good (tetrasync, etc) but it had it's moments where
it was aweful (an arched pathway or whatever).

however, like buddy above said, if you were to catch him
live, it ALLL makes sense.
