Super Adventure Island [SNES] and Super Mario Bros. 2 [NES]

hhmm I only see console games here.
My pick would without question be "Alice", this game has
the best music ever. Combined with the visuals, the
atmosphere simply oozes out of your pc/monitor and speakers.

SNES
Gradius 3
Actraiser
Axelay
Fzero

All the DKC games

Genesis
Dynatmite Headdy
Splatterhouse 3
Zerowing (more than just ALL YOUR BASE, this game has a
kickass soundtrack!)

I dunno, they've all been named... but the Japanese version
of Castlevania 3 (Akumajou Densetsu) has the best NES music
ever, a different soundchip than the American version...
soooo crisp and yummy.

Hey you liked the Worms music too? It was ambient but so
quiet people barely noticed it, but I did and thought it was
quality, I think i put it onto tape, but that was long ago.

last year, in the dorms... wed have Halo nights.

weekends, or weekdays... wouldnt matter... at 1am, we'd all
meet in the tv lounge.

we'd hook up to the big screen tv (BIG), and then connect to
the other Xbox, via the school network, and some one would
bring their own tv to the lounge... so we had 8 people
playing at a time.

And wed have a large audience of people, also waiting to
play.

the lowest ranking ones would have to give up thier
controllers to someone watching.

good times.

goooood times.

I'm glad someone else here appreciates those soundtracks as
opposed to getting overshadowed by the Wip3out series.

Nubuo Uematsu is an amazing composer.

I've recently found myself listening to the music on the
original Phantasy Star on Master System which was reissued
on GBA in Collections. I've often found myself not playing
the game, but just leaving it on to hear the music.

The song for the final stage in Sonic and Knuckles as Glod
Sonic (Doomsday Zone) is fan-fucking-tastic.

shadowgate for nes
secret of the stars and zombies ate my neighbors for snes
also day of the tentacle and sam & max, if you count
computer games..
most of the newer systems basically have cd quality sound..
so that doesn't really appeal to me..
i like my video game music kinda shitty and fake sounding
like on the nes and snes, otherwise i'd prefer to listen to
real non-game music, for the most part.

Fuck yeah FF7.

One Winged Angel is one of the best boss themes in history.

I also enjoy Silent Hill's music. Very eerie. The music for
Smash Bros. is cool too, because it's all the old school
music. I've heard some of the music for the new F-Zero -
sounds killer.

Does anyone remember the Freestyle mode from Toejam n' Earl,
where you got to use sound effects? That was the shit.

There was also this game on Genesis called Technoclash, an
old EA game that's quite underrated. That game had some
killer music.
