Told you so! And it only gets better..
(Which I'm sure you've found out by now - I love the
cutscene of Link being launched into the Forsaken Fortress -
"aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!") And isn't the combat AWESOME?
Anyway, I'll leave the two of you alone now. Enjoy.
xxxx

p.s. Don't forget about the true master quest aka THE
PROJECT

george...and it only get better from there on :P

anyways, ive been plugging away at star fox adventures right
now and Im on the second to last krozoa spirit and stone
thing whatever theyre called. Im still stuck in metroid and
resident evil zero and eternal darkness. I got a few more
shines in mario sunshine so im only at 60 or so but im
slowly moving along. Zelda is more important now so I'll
have to play some more this weekend.

Space station silicon valley is an awesome game btw, you
should like it but it hasnt aged too well. yoshis story was
alright but way too short and the singing of the yoshis gets
really annoying. when\if you get kirby let me know how it
is.

"the true master quest aka THE PROJECT"

the project? What project? :-p
A man needs to choose his priorities right, and right now my
priority is to save my poor little sister from the evil bird
;-)

Well i'm kidding ofcourse. But i'm going to need all the
willpower i can find if i want to finish that project :-o

I have to work on it all this weekend i think... with no
zelda-brakes. I've already found out you can't play this
game for just a few minutes ;-) Once you start playing you
won't stop until your eyes are too sleepy to keep them
open.

Hehe, yeah that cutscene was really awesome! :-p I loved the
entire pirate-episode (i sure hope they make a comeback
later on!), and the rough time they were giving link.

But i've already got my boat now, oh yes! I'm gonna have to
think about getting a boat in real life too :-p Sailing is
the most awesome thing ever! I just love it! Sailing to
dragon roost island i really got the feeling the entire
world was out there and waiting for me... so much freedom.
The feeling of traveling across a huge world is certainly
much stronger in this game than it ever was in any of the
other zelda's! It's the fact that all the locations are
seperated by long distance you can only cross by boat that
makes the whole thing feel so enormous. And i love that you
can actually see small silhouettes on the horizon! When i
was still on the first island i thought they'd just be
decorative. But now i've found you actually sail to each and
every one of them (without cutscenes! I mean the silhouette
just gets bigger and more detailed as you approach it, until
you're there and it's a whole new world to discover. And
then you look back and the island you just left is nothing
but a silhouette on the horizon :-)). Thank you nintendo!!
for this perfect game! I think all future zelda-games will
have to involve sailing too :-p I can't see how they could
drop that aspect and not dissapoint everyone who's played
TWW

silicon valley is awesome indeed!! Since they were used
games, i had to test them both to see if they'd work
(otherwise i could still get my money back)... and even
though TWW was also waiting for me, i still wound up playing
with silicon valley for at least an hour! What a great game!
This type of simplicity really appeals to me :-) Not alot of
games offer that these days. I love trying for half an hour
just to cross a river to fix the bridge.

And strange as it may sound, i could swear i heard some
dutch (!!) sentences in the opening cinema. Obviously alot
of it (the actual sound that guy and his robot make) is just
gibberish, but i heard some familiar lines. When they're
arguing over the radio, what to listen to... i could swear i
heard the professor say: "Blijf eraf!" which means "leave it
alone"... and a few more lines in can't remember. I'll have
to study it better next time i play that game. But very
nice, yes! I can already tell i'm going to have some good
times trying to finish this game :-) The graphics are indeed
rather dated by today's standards... but i still like them.
I like walking around those early attempts at full
3d-worlds. It all looks very simply ofcourse... but it's
like looking at those graphics, i can imagine the world as
the programmers had imagined it.

I'm sorry to hear you say yoshi is too short :-( I only
played one level, but enjoyed that one alot. It's pretty
much like a straight sequel to super mario world 2 from the
looks of it. I'll have to enjoy it while it lasts then :-)
(cabbog if you thought SMW2 was childish and for the little
kiddies... you ain't seen nothing yet ;-))

Heeey! Morton! Good to see you in this thread too :-p So
even though you don't play videogames you noticed i write in
this thread? ;-) This a very nice thread... i think this is
the longest thread i ever participated in.

Glad you like the hair :-D I was kinda hoping you'd hate it
though ;-) I could just picture us having that classic
conversation:

Morton: I could spot that bird's nest two blocks
away.

Surrounded: You only think that because you know me.

Morton: Have you noticed people staring at your
head?

Surrounded: I noticed people staring at my head
because they like what they see.

Or this one:

Morton: YOU'RE BALD!

Surrounded: No I'm not. I *was* bald.

:-p Untill eventually i'd go back to my old avatar, and i
could have been a 'bald-again'.

But nevermind, i'm glad you the avatar :-D In the end i'll
probably go back to old george anyway. But so far it still
makes me laugh to see george with hair :-p

"you're ok surrounded? :)"

A little sick this week... and a bit busy (so i haven't been
posting much). But otherwise doing great! Thanks :-) How are
you doing?

another thing thats so great about it is that, no other game
is like space station silicon valley at all, its very
unique, I mean the idea is rpetty screwed up in a genious
sort of way. Theres also a lot of levels in it but some are
really hard I thought, it should give you a challenge.

DAMN!!
Shit, why did you discover that? :-p I already knew... but i
wanted to rub it in your face the next time you would brag
about how much more points than me you have... "oh yeah?
Well I am in the top10 of toughest posters."
(and yeah only 10th place... hmpf... but you have to
consider the other people in that list were already posting
here long before i learned about this site ;-)).

I have no idea what's going on in your avatar though...
apparantly you won at i-sketch... but what does that have to
do with a dictionary?!

"I mean the idea is rpetty screwed up in a genious sort
of way.
"

No shit! :-p
The entire concept of killing animals and then taking over
their dead bodies is kinda sick ;-) But it works great,
yeah! Whenever you face a really tough enemy... you're
always thinking: "i gotta beat him, i want to be able to
fire rockets too!"

It came without a box or instruction booklet though. So i
don't really have a clue what the story is. Just that they
apparantly crashed on this planet and have to escape. Oh
well... i'm sure i'll have lots of fun with it after i beat
the wind waker :-)

not on zelda but heres some news some of you may have
missed:

dont know if you guys like metal gear solid or not but mgs 1
is being remade by silicon knights(eternal darkness) and
konami and nintendo(theyre all involved). its supposedly a
remake with mgs2 style graphics only better, its called mgs:
twin snakes.

Holy shit! MGS1 is the better game, methinks. But I'm not
sure how I feel about retreading familiar territory...
certainly not a game that's only 5 years old and still holds
up today.

I'd like to see 3-D renditions of Metal Gear, Snake's
Revenge, and Solid Snake... something TRULY retro and
unfamiliar to today's idiots. Remaking MGS1 is a waste of
manpower... it's better than MGS2 anyway...

Ok peoples, Zelda is finally out in australia tomorrow and
the deal is "trade in "the ocarina of time + majora's mask"
n64 carts to recieve %50 off the price of windwaker!" . now
it sounds like a pretty good deal considering that ocarina
of time is on the bonus disc!

Yes, I'm looking forwards to that. I'm not sure I'll get it
unless they put a lot of extras in...

I wonder how this will compare to Splinter Cell?

I've got a copy of Wind Waker now and it's fantastic. I plan
to have a couple of hours on it tonight if I can get my
flatmate off Super Monkey Ball.

That's a terrible deal. I hope you didn't actually do this.
:-p

It's worth it to pay the full price for wind waker if it
means you get to keep those two games! Well ehr... okay i
guess you can play OOT from the bonus disc. But i would
never ever part with Majora's Mask! Just one of those games
i want to replay every once in a while.

Ikaruga is fantastic- very hard though (on the DC version at
least). If you're playing with a mate it's really good if
they're good at the game too as the unique colour system
(I'm assuming you've read about this as it'll take too long
to explain) allows you to ptrotect each other from fire if
you play "together" rather than just at the same time like
in most 2p shoot em ups.

... out of the two zeldas (on the 64) I would have to say
that Majora's Mask would have to be the most unique of the
two in terms of radical game engine design (groundhog day
principle). Even though I've finished it with all the masks
I still couldn't trade it in, it's just too damm unique to
let go... :)

I hope you peeps have checked my metalgearsolid 3 +

I'm glad to hear that you enjoy it so much.. Even though I
was certain you would! : ) Forest Haven and it's respective
temple were definately the highlights of the game for me.
The Deku leaf, baba buds and fire flies.. Not to mention the
koroks and the adorable little shells and sticks
clickity-click noises they make as they shuffle about.. I
hope they release a set of plush dolls! I'm still working
on getting the Pikmin ones imported - I've made bids as high
as $50-$65 on eBay but am always outdone at the last
moment(Lord only knows by who). If anyone is capable of
obtaining, or knows a way in which they're capable of being
obtained I'd be much obliged and willing to compensate.
Anyway, I finally received your e-mail the other day and
will try and get back to you before the weekend's out. When
do you expect to get a response from Nintendo? Will
submissions be returned? Send me some photos of yourself,
your work and anything related if you have the means and/or
time. I'll try and do the same.

ps. You're right -- One other thing I could have done
without was King of Red Lion's constant nagging. Not that
it wasn't justified; the matters at hand are indeed of
utmost urgency - but it really makes you feel like you
should be rushing through everything when all you want to do
is explore, explore, exploooooore. And as for the black and

you take with you to the grave.

It's in the northeastern part of the ocean - One of the
Dragon Roost natives mentions something about it to you

What are your favorite enemies so far? I really like the
mothulas and morths - it's fun to shake the little things
off and watch as they dart into the shrubs to find a safe
place to sit and stare at you. I never get tired of
smacking the moblins around either. And I absolutely,
positively adore Zill(the little boy with the runny nose on
Outset Island). Have you ever gone in their house at night
and watched the two boys sleep? If you wait long enough
Zill's snot bubble pops and wakes him up! ADORABLE!

oh my god :-p
I've gotta try that!

Have you also talked to them during the day, when they're
all standing around in the house?

If you talk to the big brother he says "Now link, about
those other two pigs you gave us.
"

Mother: "shooosh!

Brother: "They..."

Mother: "They escaped and ran away some day, how
sad.
"

And then Zill says: "It was delicious!"

Mother: "shooosh! What am i to do with these boys?"

The animations on the mother during this scene are really
excellent too.

And if you talk to Zill instead of his big brother, i think
he says something funny too... can't remember exactly
what...

I'm glad to hear you received my mail!
There are five temples in the game, right? If so i just
completed them all yesterday :-) (now to find two more
"triumph forks"). I couldn't say which one was my favourite
really... for the first time in a zelda-game they each
really had a totally different atmosphere. I was very
impressed with the Tower of the Gods, and they way it really
felt like it was hundreds of years old. The Wind Temple was
awesome too... (and easily the most complex out of all the
temples). The music in that one particularly still haunts
me.

I also recently played through the whole mini-level
underneath the rockhead at Outset Island (all the way to the
bottom!). My god! Whoever says this game is too easy should
be forced to play this level! :-p
Talk about intense fighting! When i was done my fingers were
completely cramped and i almost had to pry them loose from
the controller... all the way i was thinking: "when's this
going to end? Will this be the last floor?"

I haven't made friends with Cyclos yet but I'm presuming
that's what I need to do next,...
as far as favourite enemies and characters are concerned
then I got a real kick out of the small kid on the pirate
ship teaching you how to swing. (everytime he jumped I could
swear he was saying TIMMMMAE!! like that southpark kid)
but really, I haven't found much on the great sea that
isn't glowing with that nintendo charm I know and adore :)

Another one of my favorite animations is Sturgeon blowing
his top when Orca inadvertantly knocks the pots from his
walls. The second confrontation in the Forsaken Fortress is
amazing too. As for enemies, I also love the miniblins --
those annoying little devils that make honking noises and
try to poke you with their pitchforks.

Myself?!?! :-p And what do you intend to do with those?

"your work and anything related if you have the means
and/or time.
"

Yes, i must admit i still haven't gotten around to it :-o
(blame shigeru miyamoto ;-))
But i definitly will make you something nice. Pictures of my
entry ofcourse, other work, my cat etc etc... we'll see.

"I'll try and do the same. "

That would be great! I'm looking forward to it :-)

"when all you want to do is explore, explore,"

Yes! Exactly! But i explored anyway :-p I sailed around the
ocean for several days with Medli sitting in my boat. I just
wanted to see some more of the land before immediately
rushing towards the next temple!

I really love the way they took the sea-theme, and fully
explored every possible aspect of it. I can just imagine all
the designers sitting round a table, after they decided this
game would be based around the ocean... coming up with all
the things they could do with that theme: Giant octopusses,
lots of other boats, rafts, submarines, being attacked by
sharks (god, i hate those!), little tropical islands, a
ghostship, a lighthouse (and you can actually see the light
from very very far away at night! Awesome :-)). It's
brilliant!

But still i sometimes felt as if they had to complete the
game under a big time-pressure, and some parts may have been
rushed. I mean... well for one thing both fire island and
ice island should have been complete levels! I felt really
strange about those... as i entered them i thought they
would be big levels with a map and a compass and a bosskey.
But they were just these very small areas that just seemed a
bit out of place... hm...
I'm still enjoying this game more than any other zelda...
but i

...but i just think it could have been even better it they
would have had another 6 months or so... Oh well... perhaps
they'll use all the ideas that were left out for the sequel
:-p

I don't know how much the nintendo artists get for working
on games like zelda, but if you ask me they deserve a
motza...

The second confrontation in the Forsaken Fortress is
amazing too.
... it sure was

The temples are Brilliant. Gameplay-wise, nothing ever gets
frustrating(in a bad way) and, aesthetically speaking, they
sport some of the most gorgeous videogame architecture ever.
I wish Nintendo would release a coffee table sized "The
Making of Wind Waker" book or a 'behind the scenes' DVD of
some sort.
Re: Mini-level beneath the rockhead -- Granny's soup sure
comes in handy down there! Pack a few bottled fairies just
in case and you're fine( minus the handcramps - I recommend
massaging your hamstrings in evaporated milk).

"Have you tested your aviation skills at the "Flight
Control Platform" yet? I always end up plopping in the ocean
right before I cross the record line.
"

Seriously? You didn't make that one yet? It's difficult, but
not impossible. Just fly in a straight line as much as
possible, and you can just make it.

"Miraculously, I won the heartpiece in that game the
first time I tried.
"

...

"I think it was on the second attempt for me."

!!!!!!! How come you guys were so lucky?! It took me atleast
50 times or more!

How many letters are you able to sort in the postman-game
though? I got up to 27 :-D The rito-postman said i gave him
goosebumps!

I'm still trying to complete the third pictograph-challenge
though... finding the two people who are in love with
eachother. I'm almost sure he means himself and the woman
who loves pictographs so much! ("you know HE always shows
off his pictures of me as soon as he takes them"). And the
two gossiping women also hinted at it. I crawled into his
house through the secret entrance and took a picture of the
two of them together (they were obviously startled!), but he
still said it wasn't quite a good enough picture :-( How
frustrating.

"nothing ever gets frustrating(in a bad way)"

Yes, i'm especially amazed by the camera in this game! It
has to be the best camera-system in a 3d videogame ever! My
view has NEVER (not even once) been blocked by an object, it
always manages to show the right angle, and another thing i
really love is that you can't get the camera 'behind' a wall
(so that you can see the huge blackness behind the levels...
the stuff only the designers were supposed to see)... it
never distorts the illusion to remind you you're just
playing a videogame. It's just perfect :-)

"gorgeous videogame architecture ever."

Very true...
The same thing can be said about Windfall Island, which is
easily nintendo's best attempt at a town so far! It all
feels so cozy, with all the little streets, narrow
corridors, passages across the townwalls... i'd like to live
in such a town :-)

"I wish Nintendo would release a coffee table sized "The
Making of Wind Waker" book
"

Now there's a great idea!!!!!!!! My god, that would be
wonderful! Absolutely wonderful! I'd love to see all their
designs and handdrawn sketches... they really really should
do it! What a great idea :-)

"Granny's soup sure comes in handy down there!"

Yes, it's a shame you can only pack one bottle of it :-p
That soup totally illiminates the need for red or green
potions... which is kind of shame. I like the aspect of
harvesting the ingredients for those potions yourself... but
yet i never even once bought a bottle of it :-p I just carry
fairies and soup around all the time.

I don't remember what my top score was with the postman but
it wasn't nearly that high. You truly are a prince among
men!

Re: Pictographs - You're sniffing down the wrong trail(I did
the exact same thing). Hinty hint : Try wandering around
town and observing certain people's habits.
