I don’t think your model of human nature is correct and you’re conflating a lot of different things, but mainly I’m a little confused as to what it is you’re afraid of. What is there to redistribute? Are you a business owner or a landlord? Or is it a “they’ll come for the white males” bit? You’re maybe describing something like the Cultural revolution in 60s China, which was orchestrated by Mao as a power play, and was one of the most stupid and evil times in human history. I mean, sadly we don’t really get to decide. Capitalism is unsustainable and perpetually in crisis, which demands answers. One of these answers is fascism, as we’ve seen in the 30s and we see again today. We would like to not have fascism and keep atrocities to a minimum. The idea is not to whip up people into a frenzy, but to have a clear direction in moments of crisis, and give people a better choice than death or hitler, so to speak. |

Also I mean re worker ownership, cooperatives already exist? They’re not exactly fonts of violence. Like sure they’re still operating in a capitalist system so it’s still mostly alienated work but like. It’s not a very esoteric idea. I think capitalism could not implausibly erode away through systematic worker ownership and no violence worse than strikes and expropriation. What is to fear is a violent response from the capitalist class. I’m not a seer and you can’t really predict or control mass movements, but outright war could be avoidable. It’s certainly not an end goal in itself. |

Italian and German fascism were capitalism's reaction against socialism - against socialist workers in their own countries as well as the Soviets. Hitler's main stated purpose was to put down the bolsheviks in the east, to do to the east what the Americans had done to their west. That's why Western Europe and England refused to make an alliance with Stalin against Hitler. Many of those countries had friendly relations or non aggression pacts with Hitler until the last minute. It's not an accident that the famous poem by Martin Niemoller begins "First, they came for the communists…" We could also talk about how the genesis of capitalism is inextricably tied to the brutal deaths and exploitation of millions in the Americas, Africa and Asia but we'll leave that for another time. |
