I got the Nord Modular... I love it.... haven't regretted
getting it for one minute....

..... and it's alot of fun to mod and build patches on the
computer and then save them on the synth and go crazy. The
learning curve is alittle steep at first, but once you get
past the basics of it... its' alot of fun.

I have a nord lead three. Its a lot more digital sounding
than I was looking for, but if I wanted rich analogue I
would buy a whole bunch of 500 analogues. It has a great
sound all to its own, but the filters are not as powerfull
as I like them. However, its extremely intuitive. The
endless rotary incoders are the best interface design since
the knob.

Also keep in mind that the virus can be right confusing when
try it out. It sounds like a beast though.

rotary encoders are definately the encoders of the future.
the MS2000 doesn't have rotary encoders at it pisses me
RIGHT OFF

i think it's safe to say.... endless rotary incoders from
anywhere would be pretty awesome. I remember watching a
video demo of the Moog Voyager and drooling at the fact that
it had some of those on it.. AS WELL.... a knob you could
press as a button AND turn.

Imagine that... endless incoders with a button function as
well.

practically baked my noodle when i saw that...

the encoders on elektron stuff are dual speed - you press
down and turn and the value goes up quicker. very handy

Thats not the only thing the ms2000 needs. Off the top of my
head: proper sounding filters, proper sounding oscilators.

But it certainly is fun to use.

However, your ownage of a machine drum, a monomachine, and
an MS10 provoke feelings of awe and wonder in me. All you
need is a virus C, a concertmate MG1, and a six trak, and
you will have my wishlist.

yeah i like the MS2000. i use it mainly for mod sequences
that can be changed on the fly. however, recently i've not
included it in my live setup. gone back to basics with just
the machinedrum and mono. there's a short video of a recent
gig here, although you can't really tell what i'm
doing

ah, excellent. *applies for citizenship*

on a bergen-related note, i remember you telling me that
Erlend Oye was a complete fool and i didn't believe you,
however after hearing him talk on a live recording i
whole-heartedly agree.

hahaha, yeah, all it takes is hearing him say three words
and you know you wouldn't stand being in the same room as
him for more than those three words.

I've been thinking of making a band consisting of three
barefooted women with dirty hair playing each their
blowpianothingamajig and using finger cymbals and then I'd
be up front singing and playing a music box in irregular
timing. It'd be an instant worldwide bergen rock success!

You like your Poly 800's. Either of them have battery
issues? Mine did, which is why I don't have it anymore.

Kind of wish I could track one down again. If you ever think
of selling your black key version, give me an email.

but really, when you think about it, it's no surprise that
the results are so disappointing.

you can't let the music get in the way of a neat and tidy
studio, with all surfaces freshly polished, all led screens
uncracked, all pots panned centrally and all pedals neatly
packed.
