how much did you pay for that tape mixer.

not sure, it was a present. i think somewhere around
$150-200. you can find better ones on ebay for less.

its one of my favorite "instruments," theres a lot you can
do with it. for example, only pushing the record/play
buttons down halfway makes it run slowly, so you can get all
sorts of weird pitch shifting, as well as reversing things
back and forth. tape rules.

Yeah exactly. It would also be fun to just fiddle around
just to see what happens.

i just moved into a new apartment, and i temporarily dumped
my tapedeck at my parents' place. Now, i could get it back,
but i think this one would fit better into my current setup
(which is on the floor). Also, i think this one runs on
batteries as well?

Lucky you. I really am having no luck at all finding one
that dosen't involve ebaying for. It's really annoying.

I need to do the same as I have had a really shitty one for
a while and I just haven't got round to getting tape for it.
I really want to find out how crap it sounds and use it
accordingly.

the yellow thing is a digitech rp3 effects unit - pretty
standard effects (chorus, flange, overdrive, phaser,
compressor etc) plus intelligent pitch harmoizer (you input
what key and it will harmonize to the 3rd, minor 3rd, 4th,
5th, 7th, and octave either up or down. also has a whammy
pedal effect, but its really weak (tinny sound and a pretty
high response time) but thats why i bought a dedicated unit
for that.

the bitstream has been a dream - i couldnt be more happy
with it. the knobs have a fairly decent consistency and the
sliders are nicely responsive. i havent had a chance to use
the trackpad thingy or the automations yet, mainly because
in ableton automations are much more easily done within the
software.

i gotsa boss ME 50, you should check that thing out man,
you can get like granular synthesis out of that thing with
all the delay possibilities

offline hedphukkerr from mathbotton (United States) on 2008-03-11 19:00 [#02184376]
Points: 8833 Status: Regular

yeah its pretty washed out in the pic because of the flash,
but ive got a boss rv-3 digital delay/reverb pedal which is
a whole lot of fun. you can play something through it, set
feedback to 100% and then twiddle with the delay time knob
and get all sorts of weird, glitched out loops. on an analog
delay, it pitch shifts and stuff, but with the digital one
it just starts cutting out bits and pieces.

also, it lets you change the mix knob for dry and wet
output, so you can turn it 100% to the effect, turn on the
reverb and get some real ghostly sounds - you can use it
almost like an envelope filter.
