Hey, if you don't like it, you don't like it. If you played it for two hours and STILL didn't like it, I doubt you ever will. I can't see why, though! To me, it was the perfect transition over to the third dimension, totally kept the feel of the best Metroid games. Just dropped you on an alien world and sent you on your merry way to hunt down this item to open that door or jump over that gap. And the Phazon Mines gauntlet was intense.
My only gripe was the single analog control. I felt so constrained, not being able to look around at will with dual analog.
I just bought Gunvalkyrie for Xbox, which reminds me of Metroid, but more action-oriented. Anyone play it? Holy shit, what a smooth soundtrack, and the graphics just SCREAM ''Sega''. You know what I mean, their games have a feel you can't mistake. Old school, tough as nails shooter, great fun. I got it for 14 bucks, and I got Jet Set Radio with Future (Xbox) for just 7! Both games are awesome. Every Sega game I see now goes for value prices, and nobody gives a shit about them. Otogi, for example. And every one of them is classic. What the fuck is going on?

"Hey, if you don't like it, you don't like it"
Yeah fair enough but...
"I can't see why, though!"
... I can't either :-s I've read all the reviews, all the descriptions... and it sounds like such a cool game. I think my biggest problem is probably the 1st person perspective. I've never liked 1st person shooters all that much. I think/hope I just need to get over that. Especially since it's more an adventure/exploration game than a shooter. And the atmosphere is obviously amazing. The introduction part (in the space-station I think it was?) was pretty cool already. I liked how they managed to build the tension with all the dead space-spirates and detailed descriptions of their injuries, haha. Also all the mutatns that were locked away in those cells (and one of them banging on it's door) freaked me out.
But when I first landed on the planet, that's where the atmosphere really amazed me. They captured the metroid-feeling perfectly. Better than in the 2D-adventures even. It really felt like being totally isolated on that strange planet. Wondering around that first zone with the raindrops gently falling on your helmet... it was really amazing. If only you would have the option of also viewing the action from a 3rd-person perspective. With a camera and all... like Zelda or something.
Ah well... I have a vacation coming up. I'm gonna give it another try anyway :-) If only to compensate for the fact that I paid good money for it, ha!

this game was bloody fucking awesome...
i still have to beat the final boss though, it's annoying me (i'm not very good and it's a bit desesperating to go all the way through the impact crater with the fissio-metroids, beat the first form, then get killed at second form without even having managed to take 25 or 50% of its life off -_-
i hope i will make it someday before i pine away and give up!!)...
anyway i'm eagerly waiting for Echoes = ) (but is it me, or do the screenshots seem less beautiful than Metroid Prime 1?!)

I dunno, I think the screenshots look pretty much the same... maybe less beautiful in the sense that we've been there, done that. I think the first one pushed the 'Cube pretty much to its limits, there's not much room for improvement. I think it'll be even better, though... the ''dark/light world'' thing sounds a bit generic, but I really like idea of being hunted by the Dark Samus... the SA-X scared the shit out of me in Fusion, and there's potential for some really scary scenes in 3-D... imagine climbing up a steep cliff while she's tailing you just a few leaps behind, or behind chased through a claustrophobic maze. Should be intense. I'm not really interested in the multi-player, never have been. But somebody will enjoy it.
Dana Scully- there's got to be a block or a spot on a floor/wall somewhere that you can bomb open. Try superbombing every room you step into. There's some tricky hidden passages around there, I think I remember being stuck for a bit too.

Yeah, I picked up Jet Set Radio Future for peanuts... a lot of those obscure Sega games sell for nothing. Gun Valkyrie cost me a few bucks, a great little action game. Otogi, Shenmue 2, they're all in bargain bins around here. Might not be good news for Sega, but it's good news for me...
And yeah, there's going to be an evil Samus coming after you. It's cliche, but being chased by evil doers that are stronger than you is ALWAYS fun, especially if done right... and it sounds like they're doing it right.

i'd say that panzer dragoon orta is the best game on xbox, and is one of my all-time favourites.

i really enjoyed metroid prime.
echoes should be good as well. although i don't really like the idea of light and dark worlds where in the dark world you constantly take damage from just being there.

i'm looking for stuff i haven't found yet, to get a better % now... i only have 11 life cells and 130 missiles max....
i noticed in Phendrana there is a big "room" in shape of a U (i think with a sheegoth in it but i'm not sure) with a sort of very thin horizontal cradle emerging from it on the map... in the game though i can't see this horizontal cradle, but when i'm very close to it on the map i hear the "w-w-w-w... w-w-w-w...." sound i've already noticed (but i don't know what it means)..... haven't found anything here though, i've tried every vision, benzedium bombs or everything i could think of but nothing ' _ '
