Just read the book. The only good thing about the film is
Tim Curry.

gigi: well, this one's nice too, but spidey is my all time
hero... In fact perhaps I'll put him in my avatar for a
change..

junktion: I don't want to commercialize my vast masturbation
xperience. Being 30 and a dedicated wanker is a nice hobby
but wouldn't want to make profession out of it.

Come To Daddy with all the faces replaced. Not sure how it'd
lok shrunk though. Give us a sec.

I kinda liked the film but everyone told me that I should
read the book and I did and it's so much better than the
movie. The spider thing in the film is scary, but in the
book it's even scarier than that...

I thought the acting in that film was superb, especially
John-Boy from the Waltons.

no, the film was good, but the book is much more complex
and, dare I say: profound.

I'll have to watch it again. It was years ago I saw it. Same
with the book actually.

i read the book twice. It's excellent. Come to think of it,
almost all King's books are. He's one of the rare popular
novellists keeping his standard high, not only technically
(which most of them do) but content-wise as well.

I enjoyed Pet Semetary but his other stuff bored me.
Gerald's Game was just about a woman tied to a bed in the
middle of nowhere; ok for a short story but not enough for a
novel.

Anyone read the Bachman Books? There was one called the Long
Walk about a walking race where a group of young men have to
walk across a few states and can't stop, even to go to the
loo, or they'd get shot.

didn't know about that... but it's better to go while you're
on top I'd say, so i respect that if it's true...

Ehm, my new avatar really sucks, I'll have to find a better
spiderman image...

His shorts are really good. Haven't read the Bachman Books.
I read some weird one where these kids are on a raft or
something about 200 feet from the shore and there's a weird
oily thing that is stalking them and dissolves their skin if
they touch it. Somethin like that anyway. Do you know what
I'm rambling on about?

He got run over didn't he. He almost died i think. He bought
the truck off the guy that hit him and took a baseball bat
to it. Nice attitude ha, ha.

It's spiderman related so it's cool in my books. I hopw it
was just a rumour that he was as I really enjoy his books.
Shame most of the films that come from them are pure
bollocks.

You guys are talking about stephen king?

Sorry... I think he is one of the leaders of the pulp horror
genre... v/little content, relies on cliches and pop culture
way too much. Its easy to read and somewhat entertaining,
but every time I have read a book of his I feel that I have
spent the day waisting my time.

I just have to comment... this is prolly the geekiest
comments ever posted on this board. The fact that it has
160+ replies just makes it worse.

Bachman books haven't been released here but I'd love to
read 'em. Although, I really prefer his more complex ones...
I read bag of bones and Dreamcatcher recently and they both
were great. He's clicheed but those are such elegant
cliches...

I heard about that. Fucking A I say. I'd love to do that if
I got run-over and lived in a state fit enough to do that.
Maybe even place mysel in the dents to see how it looked in
a freeze frame of being hit.

taxi: well, maybe. However, King kicks arse of most of other
contemporary horror authors. Name one better than him.

It's only just gone to Stephen King. It's technically my
fault. My old avatar reminded someone of 'IT' and it went
from there.

He's really scary looking himself.

I haven't read any of his classics like Misery and the
Shining. I should give them a go.

I'd recommend them. The shining is great. Have you seen the
film? If so forgset what you saw as I find that'll ruin it.
You can't imagine for yourself what people look like etc

You've got me. Contemporary horror is pretty weak
altogether.

Like I said, his books are entertaining, but nothing more.
