I had tried shrooms once before, about 1 gram. Nothing happened except for pure depression. Not a single hallucination or strange feeling, just docile bland depression. My friend Travis, who had just as much as me was tripping out beyond words, seeing as his only words were "holy fuck!" every minute. I took it upon myself to give this another go, but I had to up the ante, about 3 grams would do. It was a saturday, and the weather seemed nice, untill it began to violently rain. I had to walk to my friend Shawn's house in this rain, but it didn't bother me, I had shrooms in my pocket! Travis was there too, and quite unhappy that I didn't have enough for him aswell. I had chewed the shrooms to pulp by the time I reached the front door. I sat down and we had our greetings and formalities. Then It began, at first all I felt was fear and anxiety, this was ofcourse an entirely new and alien experience. I looked down at my shaking leg and it appeared to be expanding, contracting, breathing. This was happening to my arm too. I've read on the erowid site that you'll most likely experience some serious nausea, I concur! I did not puke though. Sitting in the chair I started to feel very uncomfortable, and afraid of what was to become. The full onset was about to begin, and I had to change the setting. I walked upstairs to shawns bedroom and lied on his bed, his stereoplayer had some drone ambience playing, and the fan to my right was blowing cool air in my face, which I quite enjoyed. Travis came in the room and asked me to verbally describe what I was experiencing, he wore a halloween mask to make me laugh, but how could I look at him when the stain on shawns wall was transmogrifying into a face, surrounded by smooth lined patterns which continued to grow untill the entire wall was one great big hallucination. He asked me what I saw, all I could say was "holy fuck..". |

I looked to my left, where an abstract painting began to instantly ammuse me. It seemed as if there was a very slow current flowing all the peices in the paiting to the right. I then decided to put a pillow over my eyes and see what feast to the eyes shrooms had to offer. At first, nothing but darkness, I was let down, but then a blue cube which continued to morph into abstract shapes came closer and closer to me, it was amazing. Once again, I told travis "holy fuck!". I continued to gaze, so many shapes, patterns, insect eyes, tenticles, insect teeth, quantum designs eluded me in absolute awe. Then I saw a white light in the focal point horizon, Then an insect mouth and eyes flowed above it, and black hobbit doors began to roll over it, covering the amazing light which filled my soul with warmth and happiness. From that point on, I realized that my breathing played a large roll in the hallucinations, it would make the designs breathe aswell. Travis put on our favorite ambient song, Vletrmx 21 by autechre. The visuals were stunning. Shawn came up and we sort of just ended up back downstairs again. I was filled with so much happiness, I was a content monk, everything around me so colourful, stunning, moving, graceful. My eyesight seemed to have a very large view, like it was widescreen. Shawn and Travis' hand gestures and movements had tracers and fluid transitions. I still couldn't get over how damn happy I was! We then watched one of the skits me and shawn filmed, it was the most disturbingly hilarious thing I've ever seen, and even though I'm well aware it did not render well and seemed choppy, it was more fluid than anything in the world at this point in my trip. I scratched my head, and from that moment on I could not stop touching myself. My hair, my face, lips, teeth. It was sensual and orgasmic. Nothing could ruin this moment, not even Shawns open mouth chewing (which is one of the reasons I kicked him out of my place when he was temporarily living with me). |

I HAD to go outside and sample the delights of life's surroundings. It was AMAZING. The houses and trees and grass and air, I don't think I was even hallucinating anymore, and I was about 2 hours in, it didn't matter. My life turned into a perpetual herion trip. I've never done heroin but what I was feeling must have been something close. From there on, things began to fade, and depression swept over me. Returning to mundane reality was so saddening I could have cried, and I did inside. |

I don't know what I like more, weed or shrooms. Weed makes me think I'm the smartest human alive, having so many epiphanies aboout the inner workings of anyting really. And shrooms is mroe of an experience, a feeling of absolute bliss and happiness. Perhaps I'll do both at the same time. |

My best advice for a good trip is to have a tripsitter, kind of like a babysitter but someone you all can trust and isn't tripping. Thkis person is in charge but also will attend to your needs like issuing ciggarettes, we all smoke too much when tripping. Choosing appropreate music, visual stimulae and keeping you all safe! Don't up your dosage your trip won't be anymore intense it will just make you sick and your comedown will be a lot more unpleasent. 3 grams is a nice amount. Next time take it in the day, tripping in the day was always my favorite.... |

get your facts straight people. nobody eats 20 grams of shrooms unless this is fresh weight, not dried. 20 wet grams makes about 2 dried grams. 30 makes about 3 etc.. 3 dried grams of cubensis mushrooms is considered a 'regular' dose for 'semi-experienced' shroomers. depending on personal tolerance of course. back to the story: very nice trip report, gwely. all i can say is, if this trip caused any positive changes in you, i would not worry about depression for the next trip. if you are feeling good before taking them, nothing will cause a bad trip unless you are fighting your own thoughts. |

yea, the thing about shrooms is, your type of high will be heavily dependant on the state of mind youre in before you ingest them. if youre happy it will magnify that emotion beyond anything imaginable. if youre sad/depressive, unfortunately it will do the same. luckily of the the 6 times ive done shrooms every experience was a positive one. each trip was about 8 hours long with a massive peak at about the 3 hour mark. alot of crazy visuals and much introspection. i can vividly remember driving around downtown san francisco with our friends and every car we passed was upside down!? very very crazy shit :) |

" i was a passenger...but it doesnt matter because the driver and 2 other passengers were also tripping :) if it makes it more interesting , we were all drinking mickey's 22oz aswell...... we were a bunch of irresponisble fuckheads a couple of years ago. the upside down car things were very real, i think it would be better described as "mirrored" images. the cars seemed to have reflections of themselves attatched to the roofs. in a totally unrelated weed/alcohol induced trip, we encountered the lil mexican guitarist guy from Metallica (not sure what his name is) at a towers records store, we followed him around for about 15 minutes until he was frightened and left. |

schizo-effective actually, I went cold turkey off my meds a few months ago, against doctors orders. I feel great now, I got my vitality back and since my depression and anxiety became so habitual I can snuff it out whenever it occurs, its like a power I obtained. A 'been there done that' attitude towards it. Weed, lsd, and shrooms are nothing but good times now :D Psychotherapy played a large role too, got my problems and demons out in the open and destroyed them. I really do think I'm better now and will remain so. |

To be honest, the whole phase I went through I brought upon myself by abusing anything at arms reach. I mean think about it, drinking 3 pots of coffee a day, spending 2 grand on weed in a 2 month span for 8 months straight. popping sleeping pills and getting drunk every night. It was bound to happen. I'm glad I'm not so stupid now. We all better ourselves and learn from our mistakes over time. I hope I don't appear as that sad fucked up Gwely still. I've changed quite a bit. |
