Which browser do you use? I gues you could call this
research so thanks if you answer. I'll link my new site as
soon as its done (trying to code it without any tables is a
pain!).

I'm a firefox head myself, It's perfect for me with my fav
feature being 'open in new tab'.

Mozilla Firebird 0.6.1, apparently. Does the job very nicely
i must say. Apart from having to open IE to use javascript
applications, but that's just down to my intense laziness in
downloading firebird plugins.

MyIE (now renamed to Maxthon) is a program which uses the IE
engine, and has all the modern comfort-browsing features
like MDI (tabs), ad fighting (excellent working one!), and
many more.

website

it's also free..

IE (Microsoft) like to make up their own web standards
though. There's a massive coding for cross-funcitional
compatability is a fucking nightmare. If something doesnt
appear properly in Firefox then it's likely that its right
and it's the fact that actually it shouldnt appear like that
in IE.

some bugs i have in firefox0.9 and don't have in MyIE0.913:

1) gmail login shitty: i start typing the username in
firefox and it automatically throws the focus into the
password field after i typed two or one letter in username.
Bothers rather strongly.

2) when signing out gmail in firefox, browsing in another
tab, the focus jumps into the gmail welcome page into the
inactive tab.

these are obviously small bugs of gmail intensive
javascript, but it works fine in myie.

Myie has a big bug concerned with selection of text in
fields and addressbar. The program can sometimes hang itself
if you work with selection, trying to quickly select a text
part... i hope this is removed in last versions.

Its funny cos a lot of people put up with or assume ie6 is
the best because it comes with the pc!? its not like its
coded open-source or anything either.

eg. firefox is coded by any programmer in the world that can
correct a bug or increase functionality and offers their
help to the team. same with a lot of these free browsers.
you'll often find they are 'better' than ie in many ways..

ideologically firefox is way better than IE. Nobody argues.

and it is better by functionality and friendliness. Nobody
argues. i'm just used to this over-ie proga I use, and it is
a bit more friendly than firefox, still, as for me.

You're not supposed to tell the difference. It quietly and
efficiently works faster and renders pages better. It's not
supposed to have bells on. If you want bells install some
extensions.

The default skin is fine - the only configuring I do is to
hide the bookmarks toolbar, customize the navigation bar to
make the icons smaller, and in tools -> options -> advanced,
have it find when I start typing and select new tabs opened
from links.

I also like to install a few extensions (mouse gestures,
DownThemAll) but it's perfectly usable without them.

I'll take your word for it, i've just tested out a few pages
that 0.6.1 had problems with and they load fine now. I can
do without bells and whistles and all that jiggery pokery
though, bog standard firefox'll do for me.

I don't think anyone who uses IE doesn't know this, well at
least not on this board, but if you don't really have a lot
of problems with IE and you're not much bothered about the
ethics of internet-browsers.. why change it?

Firefox. I used to use Opera, but for some reason that thing
really drains memory after a while. I heard it was the
fastest but I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong so
I switched over to Firefox, which I don't like as much, but
my computer handles it better. I use them for the tabbed
browsing, nothing more.

blankets. you'll never go back to sheets & blankets after a
duvet. i'm talking shit, of course.

Internet Explorer would shit all over Firefox if it wasn't
for the integration with Explorer. If the upcoming IE7 is
what Microsoft says it will be (ie. completely removed from
the core file handling system) then it will shit all over
Firefox.

IE is much much slicker than Firefox. And open source
doesn't necessarily = excellence, or more security, but more
often than not they get away with things a lot more than
Microsoft.

At the moment I use Firefox but plan on at least giving IE7
a decent usage about a month after it is released.

There's lots of pages I reserve for use with Internet
Explorer exclusively, work better. I guess I have to
download some plug-ins or extensions to make Opera and
Firefox work correctly with all pages, but I can't be
bothered. I'd use IE if it had tabbed browsing built in.

I always use IE, i have Firefox and Oracle for testing but I
just feel happier with IE.

What's wrong with tables? All my work relies on tables. I'll
be fucked if I can't use tables.
