they could post really big advertisements... "Ziplock backs, keeping the moon in orbit!" or something.

Seriously, it's pronounced the same as the English/American name "Kerry".

acrid milk hall, and I suppose satellites and the space station are "fucking stupid idea" as well?
Please care to tune your opinion about the information you know about future technologies and attempted space travel.
Maybe you fail to see the big picture, or any picture for that matter judging by the context of your post.
If we setup a space station we would have MUCH better access to large scale telescopes on mars without the atmosphere blocking the view.
There would be many applications for a base on the moon, but apparently you are a mindless drone who never thinks outside the box.
Good day sir, go live about your lives

dont you dare speak to me like that elusive. im not writing off space travel/exploration as a whole. i realise it has broken ground in many areas which has in turn allowed technical advances applied in everyday life.
but its incredibly expensive, this is why it was abandonned in the first place.
in a world where the margin between rich and poor is ever widening. where money seems too scarce to use on improving the quality of life for millions.. how exactly can you justify to the common man the benefits of a moon station within their lifetime? or their childrens lifetime for that matter.
im all for progress. but it seems all to easy to look outside of this world & forward to a etter future on these things.. we're not going to get there if we don't apply some care and attention to the state of our societies and the world we live in.
im as impressed as the next man by the wonders of space missions. but lets not over-romanticise them.. nor neglect our more immediate problems.
its not about 'thinking outside the box'.. its about being fucking realistic.

it'll probably be an international effort, soas there isn't one nation controlling the thing... kinda like the spacestation, cept people have kinda lost interest in the spacestation, and it looks like if things don't change it may just be forgotten.
but, yeah, like elusive said. there's hardly any atmosphere on the moon, so the telescopic view would be orders of magnitude better than anything we can get on earth. not to mention, if we put it on the dark side of the moon, there'll be no light pollution from the sun, so it'll be all the more better.
plus, the gravity is so much weaker it'll be tons easier (read: cheaper) to launch exploration from the old moon unit.
in summary, i think it's good.
