1993 was splendid - i love on, on remixes and ab3 very very
much...but i'd exchange all that for drukqs

i was tempted to say 96 because of the singles collection,
but i won't count reissues, which is basically what it was.
oh yeah, and the Crowsmangegus mix on the 51/13 comp cuts
out the best part of the track!!!

download some of his live sets - some of those are even
better to some of his releases, especially sets after 2001

offline nacmat on 2003-11-05 02:42 [#00935062]

the thing about 1993 that got me so for it is that I really
have ab3 and sosw as 2 of my top 5 aphex releases
(if that top exists in my head)

and then all the On stuff is also the best in eps

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-11-05 03:04 [#00935083]

girl/boy ep is somehow better for me, though both "on's" are
excellent!

but milk man, inkey$ and beetles are awesome

the thing about girl boy ep is that the main track is
already in another album (rdj) and the rest is nice but
tooooo short

while on is just possible to be found in the on eps or in
the singles collection but with lots more of stuff

does that make any sense?

year of the drukqs.

good topic, nacmat!

Hmmm, I'd say either '94 or'95.

SAWII and ICBYD cannot be topped, (but drukqs is coming
exceptionally close).

oh, its all so confusing...
i like track "on" much more to "girl/boy song" but the rest
of those tracks (though i like them all on "on" ep's) is so
good on girl/boy ep...hehe

one thing is certain tho - rdj makes excellent ep's :)

mean he is only 32 years old

we agree here, he has done excellent eps

saw II

dont you think?

well... thats a curious answer

and apart from that particular experience of yours... which
year do you prefer for it being when he released the best
music in your humble opinion?

offline zaphod from the metaverse on 2003-11-05 09:16 [#00935550]
Points: 4428 Status: Addict

1992 or 1994 really.
1994 has what are probably my favorite albums of his, and
1992 just seems like an exciting time in his career, with
saw 85-92 being released and his great career basically just
starting. if i had to pick, i guess i'd say 1994, because i
personally think saw vol 2 is his best album, and that
coupled with his other works that year make it his best year
by far.
he hasn't gone downhill though, as alot of people seem to
think. i still think hes releasing great music, and i'm
hopeful that his best is yet to come.

offline zaphod from the metaverse on 2003-11-05 09:18 [#00935551]

his eps during these early years were also really top
caliber.

Points: 31271 Status: Lurker | Followup to zaphod: #00935550

indeed 1994 is a good year considering he released saw II
and ab4

but classics is a compilation of tracks made in the previous
years and words&music is just like a promo of saw II

but for sure sawII alone makes that year glorious
