Urrrrrgh no you do't unless you want to either become
unhealthy or spend half your day organizing your diet
carefully to exclude meat while at the same time ensuring
you're getting all your vitamins (and no taking heaps of vit
pills doesn't cut it in the long run).

Do all teenage girls go through wanting to be vegetarian or
what?

sorry, my sister did for a while and it pissed me and the
rest of the family (esp mum who had to cook diff meals for
her alone) off a lot

I have good reason to want to be a vegetarian:
Its healthier - proven fact
can prevent cancer and other problems
im not contributign to the killing of animals more than 45
billion animals are systematically killed in slaughterhouses
around the world each year (over seven times the human
population!).

besides it wont affect my mums cooking or anything cause ill
have the same as them just veggie burgers etc instead of the
meat they have and when thats not suitible ill cook my own
dinner which i normally do anyway...

I'm not going to argue you can do what you want, but any
money you'll hate it after a few weeks, a few months and
come back.

Seriuosly, every teenage girl I know has done it haha

PS if you don't eat a hamburger, the cow is still gonna get
killed.

PPS humankind is classified as an omnivore.

PPPS are you gonna stop wearing leather and using animal
based products too? Cheese? Milk? etc

on about saving the enviroment are the same people who are
vegetarian. Maybe there would be more enviroment to save if
you weren't fucking eating it all"

if your gonna be a hippie and eat only your veggies then you
got to eat supplements to make up for the nutrients and
minerals you get from red meat and other animal products, if
not- your being a very unhealthy vegitarian.

Just outta interest, what are these nutrients and minerals
you get from meat and other animal products that are somehow
missing from the vegetable world?

offline avart from nomo' on 2003-08-05 04:59 [#00809544]

REFLEX: read more books.

Peleton: B12 is a bit tricky, but with some research that
can be fixed too. When you know what to eat, it?s nothing
difficult. Fact is that most "meat-eaters" dosen?t get all
the nutrients they need - they just believe they get em
all...

But of course you have to do more than just stop eating
meat.

Start reading books on the subject, anon - there?s a lot to
learn...

(btw - it?s r e a l l y hard to eat without any killing at
all....)

yeh, always the
"YOU"LLMISSNUTRIENTSANDYOU'LLDIE!!!"-argument.

I've been a vegetarian for 10 years now and I have had no
problems. and no, I do not take supplements.

just eat varied.

just think of it likes this - you may miss a few small
amounts of other nutrients from meat, you'll also pass on
all the extra chemicals that have been pumped into the same
meat.

My mates never eaten meat (knowingly) in his life. He may
have had the odd thing with some beef in it without knowing
bu that's about it. He doesn't take all those supplements
and is perfectly healthy.

Points: 26326 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

Oh yes, and if you think about it. If you're eating all
those vegetabes then you'll have to be careful there as
well. Bear in mind that there's a lot of field animals
killed when they harvest corn and such like. And non-organic
food has all those pesticides on them and that poisons
animals. Not putting a downer on something you want to do
just putting things to consider across.

i'm a vegatarian a few years now but i just havent been able
to escape being in situations every now and then where i
have to eat meat. i'm not gonna take that though, because i
really dont wanna eat meat anymore. problem is i do worry
about missing vital elements in my diet. i mean can just
tofu and other soja-produkts do it. i think i'm gonna eat
fish now and then in the future. because you cant miss out
on those few vitamins

anon,

Animals kill other animals and in far far less humane ways
than we do. You know what happens in the wild.

Having a balanced diet doesn't mean becoming a vegetarian
and that comes from someone who use to be. Not myself that
it is by someone I know. Generally its excessive sugar that
is bad for us. If you want to cut the fat content from your
eating just eat low fat foods such as chicken off the bone
and fish etc etc and cut down on high sugar content foods.
And excercise is key too.

the thing for me is that wé have the choice, and, in this
time, the opportunity to not eat meat. i dont care we're
actually omnivors, i think we now are civilized enough to
not eat meat.
the left/right metaphore is kinda lame and dated but if it
makes the world more easy undestandable for you, be my

I've been vegetarian for years.. the only tips I can think
of is EAT FALAFELS!!!!!! YUM! and um.. hm.. I don't really
crave meats at all actually.. so um... oh make sure you take
supplements and eat a large variety of dark greens. :)

Yes, it's very important to find a substitue for all those
delicious and important chemicals found in meat..

But hay.. have fun with it. There's no reason why
supplimenting should be a chore. Try eating a speedball for
breakfast, stash some heroin in your lunchpail for a mid-day
snack.. the important thing to remember is HORMONES.. lots
of HORMONES.
