Okay now lets be clear on a few things. I dont hate
christians. I do hate fundamentalism from any/all religions.
I'm not a big fan of organized religion but because someone
is part of an organized religion does not make them a bad
person. Personally I do feel that they are a bit misguided.

That being said I turn your attention to a little site
called christianburner.com Where I have been reading things on
their messageboard and I am simply shocked at the
christians trying to defend themselves there. The only
conclusion I have reached is this: brainwashing. Pure and
simple brainwashing and conditioning. But whats really scary
is that these type of christians are everywhere in the
world, and many of them hold high political office
*cough*bush*cough*. And I am seriously worried about the
fate of humanity due to these people. Sometimes I feel so
hopeless because I try to talk to these people and its like
trying to explain nuclear bionics to a 2 year old. And I do
realize that I should just leave them alone and just wait
for them to slowly dissapear but I dont see that happening
any time soon. They recruit more and more everyday, some use
the TV, others prey on the convicted felons in prision, more
prey on the hospitalized. I'd like to ignore the problem but
ignoring things doesn't help.
So whats your comments on all this?

a persons faith is their own business. anyone who pursues it
for the right reasons (lets say, seeking to be the best
person they can) has my full respect.

im not gonna look at the site, i am a Christian in that i
beleive in Jesus, but i dont go to church or anything like
that....and i dont see why anyone would make religion their
whole life...people should just live their life and do good
things no matter what they beieive will happen to them after
they are dead...

Yeah its scary stuff.
They are not free thinkers anymore.
I have been visiting alot of christian sites too and
sometimes its hard to belive its real , it looks like a big
joke. And these christians who sing about joy (in monotone
voices) seems to be the most lifeless booring people of
all.
Poor bastards!
I too hope that all this will fade away in a near future.

Thats why i love southpark so much , they really joke around
and question alot of this stuff in a "Life Of Brian" kinda
way.
For example check out what god looks like in south park .
He is just this strange little animal that doesn't look like
anything and everybody is really dissapointed when they see
him "Is THAT god???" hahahahha!

Also check out this WARNING on "Southpark Bigger Longer &
Uncutt"

well, I personally get the feeling from you that you do hate
Christians... you seem so dead against Christianity... but
not just that, but the people who believe Christianity...
who cares? Let them live the way they want... you say

"Sometimes I feel so hopeless because I try to talk to these
people and its like trying to explain nuclear bionics to a 2
year old."

it sounds like you're trying to show them the "right" way...
that their beliefs are wrong... well, they believe they're
right... they beleive YOU'RE wrong... so, why not just leave
them alone... I've grown up in a Christian home, and
personally I believe in Jesus and God, and the Bible... and
I believe that people who don't believe this are wrong...
just my feeling... but I don't go pushing it on people... so
why must you push your dislike of Christianity on them?

A child was graphically incinerated by igniting his
flatulence, then another kid tried to beat out the flames
with a stick and was concerned about the stick catching
fire.

I really must see that movie one of these days. Hysterically
funny review.

seriously, I get so fucking annoyed at this crap... atheists
go around thinking they have everything figured out, when
they're as ignorant as everyone else... you don't have
anything figured out... you're relying on faith as much as
anyone...

i'm atheist but i know many polite and well-intentioned
people who are Christians.

although people may have different beliefs from you, they
have the right to hold their own beliefs, no matter how much
you disagree, and that applies to all religions.

nod, exactly...

nacmat: nod, you are right obviously... I apologize for my
comment... for the wording of it, and possible
misinterpretation... I never meant any harm... I just get
angry though, when I see people picked on, or made fun of,
for their beliefs... so, I'm really sensitive to that kind
of thing...

I am not atheist

I was educated in a religious school (only for boys)
my family as I said before are christians, church goers
ones.

but after many thoughts to it, many talks, many nights, many
years... I just dont see a God anywhere... so I am agnostic
(if the word exists in english)

I wish there was a life after this one... but I just dont
believe that could happen

I think I am all phisics and chemistry... no soul, no
spirit... just some crazy animal who thinks to be better
than other species of animals

actually i'm more of an agnostic too

atheist wasn't the proper word for me to use

your english is getting better ;)

atheists tend to have a firm belief that there is no God,
whereas agnostics firmly believe that it is uncertain.

there... I can definitely appreciate that, as it's all

anon: you are so right

i was about to type how the bible and some other religious
books are a load of cock cheese...

and weatheredstoner: the increase in christian activity is
prolly because of the tension there is in the world
nowadays, people then turn to religion because it makes them
feel less uncomfortable

thats all only my humble opinion tho...

Religion is an institution made to teach people to give up
reason and trade it in for dogma that is not based on
reality, but imagination, falsities, and myth. And altruism
is a sick and sad concept.

An interesting point about the kind of people that are
Christians. What kind of religion is so appealing to
recovering alcoholics, convicted felons, etc? Doesn't sound
like my kind of deal...

having just returned from rome where i saw some churches i'd
like to add this too

christianity as we know it now is a collection of storys,
tales and customs blended together to suit the needs of ppl
in command of the country. with a little luck, a great part
of the world would follow the mythras-cultus now...

and if you look at the idiotic amout of time and money put
in to establishing the catholic empire... just makes me feel
bad
