Cylob

Ok, so I like bought 'Cut the midrange' and I like it.
However when I scan this MB as load of people seem to
dislike much of his stuff. Can you recommend an album by
Cylob which covers pretty much the same ground as tracks
like 'Cut the midrange' and 'With this ring'? I want a Cylob
album but nothing that will put me off him.

I'd download some tracks by him and try to find what I like
but this would ruin it for me. I like to sit with an album
full of tracks I've not heard (more or less) and just play
it thru with a joint. Plus it'd Rephlex so it's gotta be an
original for me.

I really like the video to rewind. That's about the only
thing of his I've heard. It's pretty cool though.

A video? Hmm, How do I get this, was it on a CD?

I was thinking of getting the Rewind single but I dunno,
that track is not too hot to my ears.

I got it online (I think from an official site), that track
is on the braindance coincedance compilation.

The video is just a young girl doing a very long complex
martial arts form (it looks like a form of tae kwon do or
karate to me) in time to the music in a completely empty
room with small crosses on the floor and walls in white,
presumabley for her to gauge distance. Good camerawork and
it looks as it it was all done in one take, but if you look
closely you'll spot the break in the middle (my multimedia
mate pointed it out). It is an okay track, but the video is
really good.

Rewind is the only track that I've heard. I'm going to be
getting some Cylob because of it.

get previously unavaible on cd. it's a good start for cylob,
other thing are hmm. let's say raw (industrial folk song)
or totaly relaxing/ambient (mood bells)
i don't think apart from rewind there is other releases with
the same style, i could be wrong

i downloaded ALL of Cylob's material and lots is shite but
there are some true gems in there. I just bought previously
unavailable, great cd.

living in the 1980's is pure cheese, but it's fun,
especially Cylob's Neil Barnes type rap!

I have living in the 1980's and it stoped me from even
thinking of buying a Cylob CD but 'Cut the midrange' makes
me think I should check out more.

I'll try that Previously Unavaible on CD if I can get it.

I agree with Eman, that CD is some good shit, apart from the
last 2 tracks

Especially his old Kinesthia tracks

Yes the Kinesthia tracks are great. He did a wonderful remix
of a track on rephlex cat022 but i cant remember the track's
title. Its got the aphex rmx of triachus as well i think.

I have some of his stuff but ever since I bought moodbells
(of which I'm still not sure wether I like it or not) I
first download it and if it's good I buy.
There's some free mp3's by cylob available through
Cylob's website (though not sure if he's the one behind it).
Music is his though

What are people talking about slagging off Cylob he's done
plenty of good stuff. Especially his originally Kinestesia
tracks pure quality. Most of his shit is good, you guys are
really picky.

I like most Warp, Rephlex there is just degrees of likeness.
Cylob has always been there or there abouts 'Lobster Tracks'
was pretty fresh and so was 'Rewind' although not my
personal fav but good all the same.

here, from the sleeve of one of his albums:
www.cylob.dircon.co.uk

and its quite easylistening stuff (at least what i've heard
of him)
that mood bells release or something isnt all that great,
but i havent been listening to it that much really...
and other stuff is a bit alike global goon

i think he's great always tryi g new stuff and always
quality - cut the midrange mood bells industrial folksongs
(the most brutal dance track i've ever heard) and cylobian
sunset are all really good - he's really underated

i downloaded a song by cylob, i can't remember the name, but
it was the most repetetive unchanging song i'd ever heard.
i would just skip back and forth through the song and make
fun of it cuz you couldn't even tell i skipped through.

A song? This may be the problem. So much more emotion goes
into the music if you buy it as a whole thing. You have the
artwork and you get to listen to the whole album as it's
meant to be.

Yes. If I have any cash left after my impulse ebay buying
I'm going to get mood bells and listen to the whole thing
thru. I'll order it with DJS on monday.

i'm not too pleased with the new ep's, the melody's are
horrible.

got both new rephlex ep's in the post the other day. While
the beats are cool (as always) the melody's are so atonally
gross it gets annoying.
