Drum'n'bass

Siamese Twin from Below Hell on 2001-06-28 19:26 [#00011273]

Hi! I would like to know what you all think are some good
drum'n'bass songs. I like that kind of shit... in fact, I
make it myself!

poe from the uk on 2001-06-28 20:02 [#00011274]

dnb bores me imensly, the same beta and 2 tone...

some is ok, if it is varied....

Wizard MaC from Grijpskerke hehehe on 2001-06-28 20:05 [#00011276]

I agree with Poe.

Aron? from Canada on 2001-06-28 20:45 [#00011285]

I like drum'n'bass.

Siamese Twin: what kind of d'n'b are you into? hardcore?
ambient?

japes from London on 2001-06-28 21:23 [#00011297]

dnb djs who rule are:

* Grooverider (the daddy of all dnb)
* Fabio (makes predominantly coolstep dnb)
* Goldie (very overground now, but still xlent)
* Aphrodite (jump-up dnb)
* Ed Rush & Optical (techstep, darker than hell)
* Roni Size (also overground, but still great)
* Doc Scott
* DJ Teebee

I stopped following dnb about a year ago now, but i still
listen to it from time to time. I don't know if these
artists still operate at the same calibre as they did when i
was listening to them. Check out the older stuff though,
it's much better than the newer stuff generally.

Aron? from Canada on 2001-06-28 21:42 [#00011298]

I'm really into ambient style drum'n'bass like Adam F, LTJ
Bukem ect...

hevquip from an egren's coffe shop on 2001-06-28 21:43 [#00011299]

i dont find dnb all that exhilarating because it's the same
beat over and over. then it's just a matter of adding or
subtracting sounds every once and awhile. everybody uses the
same beats too, so artist A sounds the same as artist B. i
do like the fast pace though.

poe from the uk on 2001-06-29 01:07 [#00011310]

I have circles by adam f..tis ok

|REFLEX| from Western Canada on 2001-06-29 01:16 [#00011313]

Photek!
Roni Size!

Get those... its a good place to start.

Chrispy from the Uk 2 on 2001-06-29 08:31 [#00011322]

Siamese Twin:
If you can get hold of some Moving Shadow stuff, 98. and 99.
stuff, they have loads of D&B artists on there, and it only
costs £1.99! The reason for that Is coz it promotes stuff
like games and music. 99.2 promoted Thrasher and GTA2. Do a
search for Moving Shadow, preferably in the uk.

streamer on 2001-06-29 08:47 [#00011328]

Like Reflex says, Photek is a good place to start, any of
his albums are a good example of atmospheric grooves with
intertwined, eclectic beats......quality.
Also, those of you who haven't, check out Paradox (one of
the UK's finest)
DJ Die
DJ Suv
Klute
All of these are well worth a listen. I agree that the
earlier
stuff was better, more beat driven as opposed to the more
anthemic, massively distorted bass line style of recent
times, although the scene is starting to to go back to the
beat.

evolume from seattle washington U.S.a on 2001-06-29 08:58 [#00011330]

also check
source direct for some more ambient soundtrack type d and b
and
omni trio for some kinda funky loungy pretty jazz type dnb.
plaid has some good cuts too that could be considered dnb
it s not all the same if you look in the right places.

Phobiazero from Sweden on 2001-06-29 09:13 [#00011331]

Drum&bass is fantastic. I'm really into dark drum&bass, like
Keltech.

keltech website (this is not an ordinary mp3.com
artist, it's just a channel to distribute his music)

check him out - you'll love the energy.

...also check out some dj sets from DJ Timestretch
although he's hard to find on the net. ;-) ... but here are
two samples: one and two

Aron? from Canada on 2001-06-29 18:31 [#00011410]

Hey Chrispy: The stuff on Moving Shadow is awesome!! I'm
really into Aquasky and most of Omni Trio's stuff.

tune*mx on 2001-06-29 18:33 [#00011411]

Check out the new Metalheadz Platinum Breakz (3)... Worth a
listen. Although old songs.

SWAI from Denmark on 2001-06-29 19:00 [#00011416]

I dont know about this thourougly, but one of my friends is
into this black ho´named 1.8.7 ... some of her shit is
actually quite good. both agressive and ambient shit. check
it out! its underground so you wont have any problems with
the "keep it real" niggaz

Check out Ed Rush & Optical album Wormhole, also Mysteries
of Funk by Grooverider (co-produced by optical)
Search on napster for the amazing FIXATION(also try The
Shining Remix or Bacteria) by Ed Rush & Optical or
Cybernetic Jazz by Grooverider. It will surly change your
mind about drum&bass. Don\'t judge the genre by one or two
songs, there are lots of boring drum&bass stuff out there
but if you dig a little deep you will find gold i tell ya!

Dozah on 2001-06-30 01:02 [#00011476]

i would try audiogalaxy or something else instead of
napster. napster is all fucked :(

Chrispy from the UK 2 on 2001-07-01 21:14 [#00011676]

Aron? Moving Shadow 01.1 is out now but I'be yet to listen

Aron? from Canada on 2001-07-01 21:52 [#00011679]

actully, I haven't heard it yet either, maybe i'll have to
make a trip to the records store and check it out

Chrispy from the land of bordom on 2001-07-02 15:54 [#00011795]

I've got both now mate! Quality beats. I think its such a
cool idea coz It gets people into Drum and Bass and at small
Price of 99p! so safe! its like: *If you like what you
hear... go out and buy the artists stuff!* Great...

tune*mx on 2001-07-02 16:16 [#00011808]

Anyone heard Klute's Commercial Suicide? That is so awesome!

Chrispy from the land of bordom on 2001-07-02 16:18 [#00011811]

No, is there anywhere I can get some samples? Whats it like?

Bad Ass Muthafucka on 2001-07-02 16:19 [#00011812]

Klute is a bad boy.

Photek for sure. Modus Operandi is a must have.

Fcs North-a trio who makes 'live' drum 'n' bass. It's good
stuff.

Ed Rush & Optical are the kings of surreal and dark
drum&bass. noone can beat them. they're early Virus "12,
Medicine/Punchbag, Bacteria/Gas Mask etc. also The Shining
remix released on Metro. And ofcourse the classic "Wormhole"
album. My alltime favourit drum&bass track is on that album
entitled "Fixation". Evil Phat ass Ripping Bass!

Klute
Polar
Danny Breaks
Dak
Angelzero

The standard of drum and bass on the whole is total shite.
But there is some amazing stuff, the problem being that no
one in the scene likes it for some reason. No one outside of
the scene wants to listen either, because they just think
'dnb...that shyfx crap?'
grrr

There is good Drum and Bass!!! I´m into dark and evil and
ill stuff... I don´t like Jump up and other crap which
sounds like 2 step. But some good artists are:
-Ed Rush & Optical (the best ever!!!)
-Bulletproof (Very dark and a genious in arrangement)
-Kemal & Rob Data (Phat and ill)
-Stakka and Skynet (Very straight into your face)
-Bad Company (The older ones are very good (Planet Dust
:-)))

These are the best producers in my eyes. So check'em out

The Best drum&bass came out in 1996. All the metalheadz and
moving shadow release that year were really good, then its
like the whole style changed to some thing different, more
simple its like it went in reverse and got worse over time
instead of better. How come people quit making the rolling
stuttering drums and craziness, it was alot harder to mix
those older records because the drums were all over the
place, now its so simple, no crazy rolls just straight very
simple drums.

good point but i beg to differ, dnb in the last 2 years has
come around. There is so much choice now...not to sound rude
at all but i hear what youre saying alot, loads of people
feel that way but refuse to take a look at whats going on
right now.
It did go crap, real crap...but it has got better

good dnb:
Photek - Form and Function
Photek - Modus Operandi
(solaris isnt very good)
Goldie - saturnzreturn
Goldie - Incredible
Roni Size - New Forms
LTJ Bukem
Grooverider

thats about it I think most dnb is boring but those are
pretty good, photek is probably the most interesting dnb
