I do not wish to lick your anal glands but i have to say i
admire your dedication to this place lately. Old folk tend
to pop back but the lack of excitement means they don't stay
long.

There can't be more than what, 10 people who post
regularly/daily here?

Come on Horsefactory, earthleakage (as earthleakage that
is), anus presley, dj xammax, mimi, qrter, tolstoyed,
ecnadniarb, giginger, fleetmouse, vlari, hanal, yoyoyo, scup
bucket, dogvorn and dozens of others who made this place!
You're missed.

I'm happy we at least still a few that keep this place
mildly active. Freqy and Jivvers, crazy yanks. Even those of
you i can't stand.

Thank you Russelldust and -crazone. I have been unemployed
recently, which gave me enough time to spend enough time to
"get back into" Zilty, rather than stick my head in for a
look.

I heard yesterday afternoon that I have a job offer in the
post, so it is unlikely I will be out of work much longer
and hence the time available to me will once again be
squeezed. I hope I won't become a stranger in this time.

LOLs at VI.

What was funny was that I used it last week and despite at
one time several years ago having been very proficient at
it, I found it really hard again. Normally with stuff like
this, I find it's hard to begin with after a few months' lay
off, but you pick it up really quick the second time. Not so
with this, it was a bitch and having learnt it before
conferred no benefit.

dad started me on emacs when i was 9. none of that vi shit
in our house, no sir. i memorized how to quit vi for those
cases where it got accidentally engaged and stopped there

I love all the *nix utils with non-standard exit keys. It's
fun watching the n00bs struggle to get back to the shell.

9 year old on emacs probably constitutes child abuse in some
parts of the world.

not in india. if i'd been born there, i'd have been whipped
for not learning emacs before 7.

re: n00bs. if they ever do find ctrl+z, the discovery tends
to be shortly followed by, "hey, where did my file go?"

fucking unix, how does it work?

I was programming in BASIC at 7, but I reckon emacs is
harder than that.

I'd love to see ICP on unix.

vi: I found this to be excellent when learning:
http://www.viemu.com/a_vi_vim_graphical_cheat_sheet_tutoria
l.html

I find now I end up typing hjkl inside Word and get funny
looks sometimes. I also want to gnaw my hand off when I have
to sit and watch a colleague do things in notepad++ while I
explain that recoding vim macros are really groovy/quick and
they take 10 mins to uncomment a load of code which vim
could do in 20 secs....

I think it's good to have Ceri around - have always thought
highly of him.

Don't all the old school members hide on xs3 or boh or
whatever the new secret place is? I'm sure if you asked the
right people you could get some info....

Ctrl-Alt-Meta-Hello

I am a lost cause emacs-wise... (browsing using Firefox with
vimperator plugin). C-x C-c is only command I know in emacs.

:q!

Good to see you Dave. Your are likewise one of my favourite
XLTers and seem above all the bickering. It reminds me of
the sort of maturity and tolerance Jand exuded.

On an unrelated note; I don't suppose you'd like to make an
offer on that X0X Box that is still sat in the box,
completely and utterly unassembled after all these years?
Other XLTers may also make an offer, but it will need to be
a bit higher than Dave's to prise it from me.

email in a couple of days when I've mulled it over.
I assume your yahoo email address still works.

dave_g: Aye aye, same old address. You can make a
reasonably low offer; I'll sell it to you for less than I'd
stick it on ebay. Also, I have the transparent faceplate
(IIRC, I have the stock one too) so you can put custom
artwork underneath/look at the innards like an early 90s
aftermarket gamepad.

Ampi Max: I will contact him, but tunemx is the man
for that sort of thing and I've not had contact with him in
even longer than Phob. Is everyone agreed that this is more
important than fixing the search (which can now be done via
google far better than the XLT search ever worked)?

jnasto Thank you for stopping by, help yourself to
the punch. Giginger has spiked it with copious amounts of
mother's ruin.

Fuckin' A! LMK the dates you're free to come visit. October
and November are silly busy already, but early-mid December
looks good. Alternatively, we are looking to move late this
year, early next and you can come stay there. Also, book you
CBT in! :P

Shope, I am hoping to still do Trans-American Trail on a
dirtbike some point in the next few years. Are you anywhere
near any leg of it? It'd kick ass to meet you with your old
Kwak on part of the route. *thumbsUP*
