I dunno... it's just a personal thing... you either believe,
or don't believe... personally, I don't think it'll ever be
proven one way or the other...

hey funk- make what ever assumptions you want to, there's no
reason to assume that anybody has the right answer, and
there's no reason to assume anyone ever will

to believe is enough proof.
and not to believe is enough proof.

I went to a lecture last year called "A logical proof of the
existence of God."

Yes, I believe in god or whatever you want to call it and my
researches lately have been kind of focused on that. And I
tell you that there is nothing in my faith that is
superstitious (sp?), at least I think not, and it only makes
sense to me that god does exist. There is no other way that
it could be, in my eyes. but then again, if anyone told me
that i would not believe them... But yes, I believe
logically that god exists. joey

joey:

knowledge is a useful commodity as far as i'm concerned -
but not much more than that.

looking at the nature of knowledge, just puts a big ? on any
belief, including science, and as far as i'm concerned logic
.. and yes this all undermines itself !.

i'd be quite keen to hear some of the arguments for the
'logical proof of the existence of god' -

i find it quite an interesting/unusual concept that people
try and prove the existence of god ...

yeah, I think it's pretty nieve of people to try and prove
that God exists... I mean, why should our technology be able
to prove that a supernatural deity exists or not?

incomplete!!!

there was no tech used to prove it. it was just a logical
explanation. dude called it the Universal uncaused cause,
maybe that will change your perspective a little. Words
carry such heavy weights sometimes, and God is one of them
it creates a certain vision of what preconceived notion we
have, but new and refreshing terms such as The universal
uncaused cause change our perspectives somewhat. joey

words > . < (fullstop) carry a heavy weight.

-why would you want to change the name of god?

"the universal uncaused cause" - interesting paradox - but a
few questions?

-how does this prove anything?
-in what extent should this replace god? ie. just abstract
level, what about the bible and such?
-according to The Universal Uncaused Cause (TUUC) would
there still be a heaven or hell?
-does TUUC have any moral implications (because as far as i
can see - TUUC is a nice paradox, but doesn't suggest
anything in terms of how one ought to live and such).

also:

TUUC presupposes a causal world - and TUUC! - how do you
prove TUUC?

what is this god?... who is this god?... why is this god?
why do people assume that if there is a "god", it must be
something like is perceived in the Judeo-christian
tradition?

because the judeo-christian tradition is quite a popular
one!

but (to me) it seem so obvious that its a human
creation...

do u think he somehow gave us the idea to invent him? [i'll
just use 'him' to describe it, ok?, its just easier]
why did he give jews such a different idea than aztecs? or
anciant greeks?
all the arguments made that our present day god
(judeo-christian, whatever) exists can be applied to the
ancient gods
so why dont we still pray to them?
after all.. u cant prove that they DONT exist!
for all we know zuce is watching over this messagboard right
now... and he's upset that we're obsessed with some nice guy
named 'jesus'
why doesn't your god demand human sacrifices like he did
from the mayans? did he change his mind?
or were the mayans wrong? are they all burning in hell right
now?
im sure THEY thought they were absolutely right.. no
question about it
does that make it right then?
HUH!? DOES IT@!??!
:)

whenever i come across posts like this, i always sugest
members read up on a philosipher named Friedrich Nietzche.
And Aliester Crowley (mostly just Yoga for yahoos, i believe
that all occult sciences outside of it's vast mathimatical
realm is hogwash) Some good reading!

Personaly, I'm a transhumanist.

I do not believe that a "humanistic manisfestaion" of a
higher enegery is possible. I'm not talking about jesus, i
mean that where ppl give god a "personality." I believe that
imortality will soon be achieved via clones, up-loading
brain patterns to computers (i read that the brain can be
stored on a PC with a 2 terra byte harddrive),
nanotechnology, and other evolutionary/technological
advancements. I do also believe in re-incarnation. but not
exactly sure if the same conscience remains. Meaning that
when i die, my energy will be recycled into the earth and
spread amongst the life. I'm not certian if it stays all in
the same body when it reincarnates.

i think i heard that some organic computer prototypes were

the only thing i've heard on that is that we're close to
manipulating molucules with nanotechnology. (there's a
re-arranger in autechre's basscadet video, it's the "good
guy"). my friend has told me that japan is the closest to it
with creating/growing perfect diamonds.

i think i noticed something about scientists from the US
using leech neurons for a prototype organic calculator
somewhere.

another was an Israeli scientist developing some cubes for
an organic prototype i think.

& then i think i heard there was an exhibit in Japan where
organic energy illuminated a small screen or something.

that's pretty much mainly what i've come across so far

i dunno, i was just imagining, like, if we had organic
computers that ran on DNA-based data, as comparison to
today's puters whose data are based on 0s & 1s

No I don't believe either. I refuse to believe that one
almighty being exists in a world that is full of so much
atrocities!

I also think that people who follow the teachings of such
religious scriptures such as the Bible and other books,
cling onto such faiths because they do no wish to have the
burden to make such decesions for themselves! God wouldn't
want us to do that - it was written that, thou shalt
not....."

I sometimes think that if all these people who avidly go to
church everyweek, are wrong about heaven and the whole
religous, that they'll be so 'gutted' that they had wasted
those sundays.

Heavens above, hell under ground,
angels and devils and rivers of wine.

Thousands believe in a thousand gods,
and one by one, each one is "the one".

Fire and brimstone, Agog and Magog,
plagues and floods and souls of the dead.

Swallowed whole by almost all,
these bedtime stories for grown-up kids.

What we have here is a miracle of faith;
you can see it all without looking at all.

Heavens in reach but earth nowhere in sight,
and your eyes are still wide shut...

Want to see a true miracle,
right here, right now?

Open your eyes, look at your hands...

these hands can build worlds...

if you keep both feet on the ground.

I dont believe in god
I dont think there is a further life
but I would like it existed.... ooo shit
everything would have more sense with an existing god and
heaven...but I dont think thats possible.

all through history men have try to find the truth about
this subject...and nobody ever came to any definitive
conclusion (in either way)

I sometimes pray (I aske "him" to help me) but when I think
of it ... I am sorry but I dont believe in god
