i was watching some documentary on zdf last night..it brough
a tear in my eye. basically the whole documentary was about
reactions from fans when there was a penalty shoot out in
the final game between brazil and italy..not sure which
year..the one where roberto baggio missed the last shot that
would keep italy in.

it's really quite incredible what football does to
people..some brazilian girl passed out because of the
drama..italian male fans were crying, some young belgian
supporter for italy lighted a candle and pray infront of a
tv..

not many things affect so many people in this way, it's
really unbelivable.

luckly our team is shit so i never feel that disappointed
because i never expect anything from them.

If you are old... what should I say?!? nooo... you are in
the right age, not too young, not too old.

Very sad for Spain, I can't understand which is the real
problem... it seems impossible that Spain never win
something important. Anyway France played a good football,
they improved a lot imo.

England and Italy has been boring as fuck, so I would like
them to go out NOW. But my head says
Germany-Argentina
Italy-Ukraine
Portugal-England
Brazil-France

Then Germany will beat Italy and Brazil will beat England.

if that's based on how much the players move during a match
- then i agree.

here's an excerpt from aragones comment after the match;

"I'm disappointed because I wanted to win for the fans and
get a little closer to the teams who always win. But there
you go, France are one of those teams."

why do same teams always win? because they are lucky?
because refs work in their favour?

no, because over history, they are the best

no, not really. other people that don't know anything about
football and there seem to be a lot in this thread.

you just want for teams that play 'beautiful' football to
win for once, and i can understand that. but lots of people
here can't see when someone plays strong. they seem to think
the ones that score the most goals are the best or
something.

offline OK on 2006-06-28 10:24 [#01928738]
Points: 4791 Status: Lurker

cus you win a match by scoring goals. this world cup was a
return to offensive football. over history big teams are the
ones that play beautiful (except italy) this was ruined
since US 94 when deffensive football was the tendency.

germany - argentina = 0-3
italy - ukranie = i have no idea. lets say italy just
because.
portugal - england = 0-2
brazil - france = 1-0

weird you would say that..he was quite fat while he was
still playing too :)

anyway, this what we're going to be seeing now is real
football!! can't wait for these 1/4 finals!!

imagine what an awesome final argentina vs. brazil would be.
it's always fuggin fantastic among the biggest rivals.
though this way when it's going to be germany against brazil
it's going to be almost as awesome since ze germans have
some paybacl to do :)

messi hardly played in this tournament. but he is always
dangerous. once he gets in germans will probably have quite
a bit of work with him so that means they again won't focus
on offense. unless there's a goal..be either team. this
match needs a goal because this is kinda dull :)

come on..they both had one shot towards goal or something.
