It'd be easierr if the worrd was highlighted in the thrread
itself, too.

obara: actually, the much more preferred "boolean search",
like "+aphex +afx -joyrex" is under development.

presley: we're prolly gonna have the link to the message id
anchor instead of straight into the topic, like this:

http://xltronic.com/mb/87282/xltronic-beta-search-engine#...

obara: boards of canada using ANY is not accurate, cos it
will find messages containing boards OR canada. (for
example: it will a message containing stuff related to the
country Canada - but has no relevance to Boards Of
Canada).....

boards of canada with ANY gives me "geogaddi" as one of
first results. while boards of canada with ALL gives me
nothing. so i'll stick to the first method for now ;]

but thanks for hints/explanation.

accurate"...

perhaps the script should ignore stopwords. i will figure
that out

offline tunemx from Budapest (Hungary) on 2006-04-03 09:38 [#01871560]
Points: 2144 Status: Webmaster | Show recordbag

i mean the script and the engine is two different things
the script should not pass stopwords to the engine that's
the deal

offline tunemx from Budapest (Hungary) on 2006-04-03 09:39 [#01871561]

or just warn the user that his/her query contained
stopwords... i like that approach better... phobez?

i'm not even sure the search would accept a two-letter work

do i have to go one by one??

nacmat: do you mean how you will find the message in the
topic? the link should take you there
or you meant search results? you can go to the next page by
clicking on "next" or "previous"

next and previous are not enough when you get 5 thousand
results... thats what I meant

the mb index navigation will be used in v2:
Page: |« « 1 2 3 4 5 6 » »|

but if you're getting 5000 hits...... try narrow your search
keywords and save yourself some trouble.

is there not a way to choose page 123 (imagine if you get
156 pages of search results)?

anyway seems like a really fast and powerful search engine

Yeah I'm not a fan of Page: |« « 1 2 3 4 5 6 » »|
because like you say, if therre arre morre than so many
pages it's a pain in the arrse to get to the middle ones.
Brring back the drrop down box thing...

0 - 50
50 - 100
100 - 150

|« « 1 2 3 4 ... 20 21 » »|

Attention: You will find old search results upon a query. A
fresh index will be available within 1-2 hours again.

How's the search engine working anyway? Satisfied for now?
