We will have to populate another planet and I will get to
live in a giant glass dome, drive a hover car and just eat
pills for dinner. I was kind of expecting to be doing that
already. The 21st century was supposed to be like that
anyhow.

Almost everyone will wear a special metal hat that will read
you brain waves and our collective consciousness will be
transmitted to far off worlds. But not everyone will get a
special metal hat there will be an exam.

010101, does 0.99999..=1? It's always bothered me that one.

Physically if 1 represents something real and it has celular
degredation it will become .999999999999999

But if it is purely mathamatic it does not because it is not
one of anything it is simply 1.

offline yann_g from now on 2012-09-27 17:03 [#02441861]

0. followed by an infinity of 9 = 1.

1/3 = 0.33333333...
3*1/3 = 3*0.33333333...
3*1/3 = 1
therefore
3*0.3333333... = 0.99999999... = 1

offline yann_g from now on 2012-09-27 17:04 [#02441862]
Points: 3772 Status: Lurker

it's just that the decimal system does not allow to write
1/3 with enough precision.

offline RussellDust on 2012-09-27 19:41 [#02441867]
Points: 16053 Status: Lurker

Yep, Yann. Though i can also understand those who can't
fathom the idea. For a lot of people 0.999... means there
cannot be a one. It's fun.

It is all a question of knowing what you will get, with
T-shirts you already know what screen printing or embroidery
will look like. But I have bought prints which look great on
screen but when you get them the quality is bad. I like to
see what stuff is like before I get it and some times the
internets lies.

Can the universe be teleological even in light of
materialism if one considers emergentism over reductionism,
and in that case is purpose merely a point of view?

Also, are emergentism and soft solipsism necessarily
contradictory in light of observer based wave collapse and
other such considerations?

If I understand your questions correctly, I think that there
is a blurred line that exists in teleology and fatalism and
although fate or a belief in pre destined events is
rediculous there is always going to be conclusion to any
event. Pre considered theorising can never be 100% accurate
but can help forsee end events if consistantly reviewed.

These Philosopical concepts will by their very nature cross
over and conflict. Self awareness models are flawed because
we have only our own responce to rely on.

If I was you I would buy myself a big box of cookies and eat
them all in one sitting while watching re runs of Friends.
