if possible DO NOT link to your track from here.
send the link or the track itself to manicminer directly.

it would spoil the surprise if ppl downloaded the tracks in
advance.

Yes, just email me direct. It's easier for me that way
anyway.

Thanks.

Dannn_'s countdown remix (if the first half was lengthened
and the second half was cut out) would be perfect for this
comp.

I mean that as a compliment, really.

can you give an example track, by a known artist

Points: 1423 Status: Lurker | Followup to nobsmuggler: #01476407

Not really. I've already given you three well-known artists.
I can't give a specific track because that would be
too....... specific.

I think I've been lucid enough in the details I've already
given.

But, to put it simply, give me something FUNKY.

I'd like to try this but I know nothing about making music.
What programs do you recommend, and where can I find out
about music making on computers?

Erm..... try Fruity Loops to begin with. It's quite
straightforward and can produce excellent results. A lot of
people use it.

offline manicminer from Paris (France) on 2005-01-26 23:59 [#01477034]
Points: 1423 Status: Lurker | Followup to Raz0rBlade_uk: #01476518

But remember, nothing too fast! Keep it downtempo..... 85 -
120 BPM would be ideal.

ok, just checked it - it's 10mb. so if anyone has a file
bigger than that, you'll have to put it up somewhere for me
to download (email me the link).

too fast or not. if it is then i'll make a new one.

p.s its not finished

Just listened to your track - yes, it's a bit fast really
I'm afraid...... I wouldn't exactly describe it as "funky"
either. Basically, it's just not the right style for the
compilation.

It's a really nice track so far though! Really nice beats
:)

I'm really not sure why people are finding it difficult to
understand what this compilation is about.....

I'll try to explain again....

85-120 BPM. Funky.

We're probably talking uncomplicated beats and fairly
sample-based tracks (although this isn't absolutely
obligatory). Nothing too experimental or IDM-y. Just chilled
out, funky tracks, with rolling beats. The kind of stuff you
might smoke a joint to in a convertible car on a summer's
day (well, we can all dream).

Please don't anyone else send me any half-finished tracks
asking me if they're in the right style. I haven't got time
to check them.

it?

I want something with hip hop beats and nothing too
experimental/ambient.....

I've got two tracks of this type in the works, but for some
reason my e drive isn't working atm (it usually works itself

think.

Remixes of what? If it's a remix of a signed artist, then
obviously not - we can't break any copyright rules.....
