and who isn't? How do you define cleverness? how can you
judge that one person is, and another isn't?

In my country, when you are 14 The Government makes you take
a multi-aptitude test called the ASVAB (Armed Services
Vocational Aptitude Battery). This is so the Armed Forces
can see which division of the Millitary you would work best
in.

I'd say it's the best test to see how clever one is.

Those things are so completely worthless.

Or so I believe.

But I am also an American, and most Americans assume that
the people they are talking to are Americans, so would not
use the words "In my country' at the beginning of a
statement, so we may not be talking about the same test.

But it's just a couple of guys with Boston accents throwing
tin cans at you and yelling "EAAAASSVAAAAAB,
EEEAAASSVAAAAAB". Hell, no one can be clever under those
conditions, not even David Letterman.

I dunno, a lot of (not clever) people think that because
someone is "deep", eg they talk a lot of vague,
incomprehensible nonsense that no one can grasp, they are
clever. True, some "deep" people are clever, but a lot are
just raving lunatics.

I'd say being able to do both logical and creative tasks to
a high standard would be indicative of a high intelligence.

Hold on - are you describing religion, economics or
academia?

No, more the sort of person who babbles regurgitated
philosophy at house parties and cause the chin stroking
pseudo-intellectuals to nod in agreement.

I know one specimen who was so successful at drawing
attention at parties that he self-published his gibberish.
Actually got it placed into a chain bookstore on consignment
in the poetry section. Don't know if it sold any copies.
