hevquip from 45.697 bits of electricity on 2002-01-22 16:45 [#00073573]

slsk won't let me in. i have to enter my password and i've

Narkotic from stupid american on 2002-01-22 16:46 [#00073574]

then make a new name w/ a space at the end of it like all
the other people :)

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-22 16:53 [#00073579]

being shy or quiet doesn't make you a lesser person...
remember that...

ken from ken on 2002-01-22 16:55 [#00073581]

remember-it's nice to be impotent, but it's more impotent to
be nice.

surrounded by demons from neverneverland on 2002-01-22 16:56 [#00073582]

I am very shy and quiet...

You're probably right funkmaster that it doesn't make you a
lesser person, but it does make your life more difficult I
think... well, at least I always feel a little jealous when
I see how easily some people go through life, whilst I
mostly just observe them from a distance.

m i f f from c y m r u on 2002-01-22 16:59 [#00073584]

impotent? thats another problem altogether...

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2002-01-22 17:07 [#00073586]

I am SOOOOOO shy that it's a sin.

Shyer than any of you, I'm sure.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2002-01-22 17:09 [#00073587]

I'm a loner anyway, so it's not so bad... and I find that
the shy people I know are, on average, much smarter and more
interesting than the outgoing people. Just an observation.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-22 17:09 [#00073588]

yeah I know what you mean... I was pretty shy, I guess I
still am, but I'm much more outgoing now then I once was...
you just need to be happy with who you are... and if you can
be, then eventually you'll find other people who are happy
with how you are...

Narkotic from stupid american on 2002-01-22 17:17 [#00073597]

its funny i used to be crazy shy... somhow i fell into some
friends that were into partying and doin drugs and
drinking..yeah yeah flame me all you want, but this exposure
opened me up.. i am the most outgoing social person
nowadays...

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2002-01-22 17:19 [#00073598]

I can't stand partys and drugs and all that... I know lots
of people that do that, I could do that tonite if I wanted,
but that's too easy. I want MORE, dammit, MORE!

Winged Freak from Gotham City on 2002-01-22 17:44 [#00073605]

That's excatly how I am. It's interesting how fans of a
particular music have so much in common. That's weird how
most of us are shy.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2002-01-22 17:46 [#00073606]

I expected that. Shy people tend to be thoughtful, and
thoughtful people tend to be into this genre of music.

wayout on 2002-01-22 17:57 [#00073613]

yeah, im very shy and quiet too...
i think that the abundance of shy aphex fans can be
explained by the fact that most shy people arent really part
of a social group..and tend to go off in their own
direction..unaffected by what the majority says is popular
or whatever..as they usually arent as interested in fitting
in with the crowd so to speak...plus since they have a lot
of free time...they can devote themselves more to their
interests...which in our case is music..a type of music
which tends to take more time to get into...

these are generalizations of course...

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2002-01-22 18:18 [#00073625]

Amen. I found Aphex myself, I'm literally his only fan in my
city. I'm such a weirdo, I don't let anyone or anything
dictate what I do or how I act.

Or what I listen to!

hevquip from 45.697 bits of electricity on 2002-01-22 18:44 [#00073633]

i find that it's better to observe than interact.

hevquip from 45.697 bits of electricity on 2002-01-22 18:45 [#00073634]

us meek shall inherit the earth...no we won't. we'll be too
quiet to say anything and to shy to do anything when the
time comes.

Monoid on 2002-01-22 20:52 [#00073690]

Iam shy and quiet too, but thats because I dont really give
a damn what other peoples have to say.....

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-22 22:15 [#00073718]

i am shy and quiet too around most people.. but then around
people that im actually close too im quite outgoing..

spasticmatt on 2002-01-22 22:33 [#00073731]

i have a shy personality,but its weird

i usually have this front..like a fake perosnality when im
in public,i try to laugh and joke a lot...

but when im near someone like a girl i like,i cant even
talk...so nervous..hehe

raskolnikov from mexico on 2002-01-22 22:39 [#00073736]

im not antisocial..... i just dont like you

B3n from Sheffield on 2002-01-22 22:43 [#00073738]

AMinal, I'm exactly the same. I'm not very open with people
I'm not good friends with and am a bit shy, but people I am
good friends with and know I am very open, and they know
this.

Thats confusing.

Old Beatnik from las vegas on 2002-01-22 22:44 [#00073739]

i wouldn't call myself shy as such but introverted by design
(so to speak), in a way i choose to be on my own, talking to
myslef, and observing rather than interacting (precisely
hevquip). I Like my own company, to be alone with myself, my
own thoughts, no one elses: an introvert

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2002-01-22 22:44 [#00073740]

Yeah, with people I know I'm actually quite loud and
obnoxious, hehe.

But with anyone else... good luck getting me to talk. Or
even LOOK at you!

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2002-01-22 22:45 [#00073741]

I'm especially bad with girls, damn!

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2002-01-22 22:45 [#00073742]

Old Beatnik, you sound like me. I'm a young Beatnik, I
suppose.

And the observing thing... exactly, Hev.

hevquip from 45 angry wasps throats on 2002-01-22 22:46 [#00073744]

i think that when i'm around friends, they pick up my mood.
it could just be another persona though.

B3n from Sheffield on 2002-01-22 22:48 [#00073745]

People can't understand why'd you'd prefer to just sit and
think, and its almost like people feel like they *have* to
talk just for the sake of it. At least when I do they know
I'm A) Interested B)Telling the truth

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-22 22:50 [#00073746]

ya b3n

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2002-01-22 22:51 [#00073748]

People think I'm weird because I go off by myself.

Errr... why? Why does chatting about garbage make you any
more normal?

hevquip from 45 angry wasps throats on 2002-01-22 22:53 [#00073751]

yes. that's my big problem. people think that you're lonely,
when you're actually reflecting. it only gets more ackward
when someone starts talking to you. of course, when they
start talking, they talk about stupid crap or ask questions
that aren't important. after that, they shut up because
there was no reason to have a conversation in the first
place. then the moment of silence seems really strange
because the conversation ceased. then i think "haha. that's
what you get for trying to talk to me. an ackward moment.
i'm fine with silence, but you're not"

B3n from Sheffield on 2002-01-22 22:55 [#00073752]

Bye the way, I'm doing some research soon into the IDM
audience, would you guys be willing to give me a hand and
answer some questions?

hevquip from 45 angry wasps throats on 2002-01-22 22:56 [#00073754]

i dont know...do i have to make eye contact? yes, i will
help you b3n.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2002-01-22 22:58 [#00073755]

Everyone is stupid where I live. Wish there was more IDM
weirdos round here.

hevquip from 45 angry wasps throats on 2002-01-22 23:02 [#00073757]

yeah, we need more quiet weirdo's.

"i'm too busy with my thoughts to bother with yours" -
hevquip (me, obviously)

people are the enemy to my personal space and thoughts. let
me think by myself, my brain enjoys it.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2002-01-22 23:03 [#00073759]

Of course, if there were more IDM weirdos here to hang out
with, that would defeat the purpose of being a loner! :-D

B3n from Sheffield on 2002-01-22 23:05 [#00073761]

But thats what of the interesting things about IDM 'fans',
they are spread out and like a big underground network.

Also, anyone fancy/could you set up an IRC channel so we
could chat in more real time? That'd be pretty cool.

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-22 23:06 [#00073763]

ya that would be cool

B3n from UK on 2002-01-22 23:10 [#00073766]

Some of you guys *have* to be computer techies =)

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2002-01-22 23:11 [#00073767]

I only got my computer for graduation, never been on the net
before that! That was in the summer.

AMinal from toronto, canada on 2002-01-22 23:15 [#00073769]

poor deprived ophecks.. im not even gonna ask about
refrigeration..

umbriel from quebec...the old on 2002-01-22 23:18 [#00073770]

it depends. i usually am really shy but most people dont
realize it. what does it take to be shy?

hevquip from 45 angry wasps throats on 2002-01-22 23:19 [#00073771]

so...is your toilet indoors or outdoors, ophecks?

i am not letting life pass by, i have simply removed myself
from it's flow so that i may study it and analyze it as a
system.

hevquip from 45 angry wasps throats on 2002-01-22 23:23 [#00073772]

i look down at the ground alot. (probably to block out
distractions and so i can focus)
i can't sit still for more than a minute. (too bored with
everything else)
i don't talk. (i'm thinking)
i stare at nothing. (lost in thought)

raskolnikov on 2002-01-22 23:25 [#00073774]

"enjoy the silence"
Dave Gahan

hevquip from 45 angry wasps throats on 2002-01-22 23:26 [#00073775]

i also never make eye contact.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-22 23:30 [#00073776]

yeah... it's not that I don't like doing stuff with friends
and shit, but I love nights when I just stay home and "enjoy
the silence" so to speak... free time I love... I can listen
to music, read, watch tv, watch a movie, whatever... I love
it... I love time by myself... and maybe that just means I'm
more confident with myself then people who need to be with
other people 100% of the time to be happy...
