yes. all Kiritchenko music is such ambient, at least,
judging by what I heard..
He has participated in other projects, though. Maybe these
projects had other kind of sound.

Matvey, i'm familiar with Kiritchenko stuff by a few
compilation tracks. is it worth getting one of his albums?
is there anything else worth exploring on electronic scene
of Ukraine? i'm familiar only with Dunaewsky, who's really
good.

Hm, i don't like Dunayewsky music. I met him in person, btw.

As for Kiritchenko - i haven't heard much. I have only
Polyvox Populi 2 and Constructions for Andrey Kiritchenko
remixes. If you like this "drone" and "noise ambient" you
will like his music. I liked the stuff he played live in
September.

do you know something about an old Russian group
Cтyк Бaмбyкa в 11
Чacoв ?
they are from that so-called Izhevsk scene, 1991 (!), and
have released one album, which is very cool. Kind of good
trip-hop, downtempo, ambient...

i hosted a small sample here

and here is a phorum page with some info about
them.

thanks for the link Matvey, gonna check Kotra now. i know
Zavoloka already, i've downloaded her album from Nexsound,
it's interesting, but not exactly my favourite sound.

yes, i've got the album of Stuk Bambuka, i like it a lot.
very special release. in fact i love many artists from
Izhevsk , my favourite must be Burunduk Quartet,
and...0:28.

hey..if you want a good sample of russian electronica for
free!!!
then go to www.download.com. you can surf for region and
so-on.
I recommend a girl from Voronenzh called x-elf. You can just
search her name. downloads are fast too! Very cool music.

AMBIDEXTROUS

"Ambidextrous & Novel 23 - ML" !

offline timtom on 2005-04-14 03:53 [#01564563]
Points: 141 Status: Lurker

woj, thats a great track, yes. but i think its by Novel23
ONLY. actually, haven't heard any new stuff from him for a
while.

Matvey - i tried to listen to Zavoloka stuff , but i guess
it's TOO experimental for me, i can't connect to that kind
of stuff.

maybe you'll find it to be more interesting sometimes.
she's become less experimental in latest album.

sure, not trying to say that she's bad :) just not to my
taste. by the latest album you mean Plavyna?

dgosling2000 - listening to X-elf, some tracks are not bad,
but i don't think people on this forum will appreciate new
age/rock stuff. she's hot though :)

Eu is far better htan fizzarum.check 'christmas baubles and
their strange sounds'

offline timtom on 2005-04-14 17:40 [#01565618]
Points: 141 Status: Lurker

Riccardo - perhaps for you it is better, in my opinion
"christmas baubles" is one of the weakest things they've
ever released. "soft" on art-tek or "tuner" on pause_2 are
much better imho.
as for Fizzarum - i think Fizzarum have that something
special and its very good and even magical; EU - have very
little of that something special and sometimes none of it ;)

cheers tim tom for the dunaewsky69 tip, been digging track 9
a lot recently, haven't managed to get Mendelayev yet though
(any links for stockists?).

Anything else of that ilk come out recently, haven't even
got the new Fizzarum yet *slaps own wrists* but I will of
course.

Dunaewsky69 is from Ukraine. Though released in Russia.. I
know him.
Did you really like his music? I can't listen to it.

but track 9 is indeed worth 0.8 listenings. others don't
deserve that much, as for me.

yeah I like it, some of the tracks are repetitive but I'm a
sucker for melody and Plaid like synth sounds and his got
that in spades.

Track 9 is bordering on a spiritual experience for me when
it climaxes.

Yamaha synths rule, if your gonna diss anyone diss Roland.

I'm guessing he's got a FS1R (which is what Plaid have),
it's one of my fave synths ever.

i kno it isnt strictly e-music, but some russian pop could
be considered as softcore techno. eg. some tatu songs

offline timtom on 2005-05-13 03:57 [#01597242]
Points: 141 Status: Lurker

soundguy - glad you enjoyed Dunaewsky, my favourite track
must be number 6... reminds me early Plaid. i've downloaded
recently some new tracks from Dunaewsky, can't remember the
link now , but i'll try to find it.

Mendelayev is only available at electrosputnik i think,
russian labels don't really have distribution, which is a
shame :/

i'm also really into Estonian sound at the moment, Kohvi
records is my favourite label right now! artists like Paf
and Galaktlan are simply amazing, i miss that kind of music.
so, yeah, highly recommended.

Matvey - i don't think Dunaewsky uses ANY hardware synths,
but i do know he uses Reason.

Novel 23, Dunaewsky 69 , and others.

just downloaded , so i don't have any opinion yet , but i'm
sure i'll hear some nice moments here...

Reasons synths are terrible from what I've experienced, he
must use it to do the breaks, the Rex player is a good tool
for that.

there is a definite wiff of Yamaha about his synth sounds
though.

try to find
new is "klutch plays music" with musical graphics on dvd but
unreleased yet
8 bit is brilliant one in idm style actually by opinions of

Managed to get the Mendelayav album at last, not quite sure
what to make of it at the moment, technically I think it's
excellent, kind of like a cross between Squarepusher and
Vangelis (who is thanked on the sleeve, wonder if he
actually had anything to do with it aside from just
providing influence)
and the D n B tracks rock hard, I was kind of expecting it
to be more serene Fizzarum sounding though, may need to get
used to it.
Any reccomendations of a more chilled nature?

offline timtom on 2005-07-01 03:00 [#01649570]
Points: 141 Status: Lurker

soundguy - if you expected to hear something similar to
Fizzarum, then i definitely understand your shock :) i doubt
he knows Vangelis, and i can only hear some influence maybe
in the more ambient parts of the album. what i really like
about Mendelayev is the element of surprise. i mean, those
little drum sounds, melodies and effects he puts in
occasionaly are really really cool - it makes the music less
repetitive and very much alive. and although i like some of
those d'n'b tracks, i'm not sure they fit well in the album
. actually i'm wondering what Mendelayev is doing these
days, cuz i've seen his name mentioned on several d'n'b
labels websites, in the UK and Germany i think ... maybe he
went all the way towards d'n'b...

offline timtom on 2005-07-01 03:06 [#01649578]

soundguy - re other recommendations : if you're looking for
something similar to Fizzarum , then i would probably say
EU, although its not exactly the same. also worth checking
out the Dars records, so far they released only 2
compilations (incl. a track of fizzarum) , and some of their
artists are similar a bit to Fizzarum , probably Stuf and
Nightech ...

i just got my copy of the new Galaktlan album (on Kohvi rec)
and i must say IT'S GORGEOUS!!! melodic and very very deep.
