timtom - how come you are so much aware of russian
electronica? Even living here, not far from Russia, i don't
have much of it, and even don't know much... I have only 1
Syntetika album, some New Composers and Bahadur...

Matvey - why? you can't find it in shops? i could imagine
that you can buy almost any russian releases in Ukraine?
i've been following this music for years, i really like the
sound and that special feel to russian electronica, if you
know what i mean.

p.s. i dont know Bahadur unfortunately, what's that ?

surely i love russian electrinic
music................there's a lot of interesting music not
listed on that site........

........but Matvey's right, it's difficult to get most of
interesting releases if you live outside moscow and
st.petersburg (and maybe izhevsk - a lot of russian
electronic artists are from izhevsk).........almost the only
way to get it is to order it online...........

Bahadur = Sergey Gasanov, described as ethno-ambient..
New Composers have released a collaboration with this
multi-instrumentalist, called 'Indigo'?, and it's very
nice..

Not only Sergey Gasanov...

Mikhail Ogorodnikov (Keyboards, Sinths, Samping,
Loops (Moog Synthesizer, Roland Juno 106, Hohner Clavinet
D6, Nylon EP, Yamaha CBX-K1 X6)
Sergey Gasanov (Sitar, Bansuri, Duduk, Guitar other)

i don't know if this link works, but check it out:

_user: what site you're talking about?
can't you buy those CD's in music shops? buying online is
good solution anyway, especially when you get to check the
music before you buy.
i've got some music from Izhevsk (label KAMA), its great! my
favorite band from Izhevsk is Burunduk Quertet, do you know
them ?

Matvey : thanks for the info on Bahadur , but the link is
not working :(

check U.F.Orb (1992) cd cover , you'll notice New Composers
in the credits :)

the link to the site i'm talking about is in the initial
post of this thread............

....actualy there's a little number of releases i can simply
buy in shop..........but a lot of people here haven't ever
heard about realy good artists (like new comosers, or moscow
grooves institute, or volga (i bought volga's album during a
festival last summer, members of this group sold it to me))

have most of their releases anyway......

_user : i guess its hard to find ALL the russian releases,
probably some of those labels dont even exist anymore.

i really like the old stuff of New composers (like Astra or
Magnitola) , but i must say that all their latest releases
are quite embarassing :( listen to their album MUSIC AND
WORDS, why they released this CD anyway ? i've also heard
that their recent live gigs are really bad too :(

just got these news from Fizzarum. i bought the CD when it
was released a few months ago, very nice stuff. anyway,
highly recommended to download the remix , and to buy the
whole EP as well.

*** Download Fizzarum Remix from www.fizzarum.com ***

Download a new Fizzarum remix for a track "With Hands and
Feet" by Multiplex.
Review from Igloo Magazine:

"...Fizzarum bops along making you think of pleather suits.
If IDM ever let itself get sexy, this would be the first
track to think of. It's subtly different from the others, a
little thinner perhaps, and subsequently has a pimped out
feel to it. In a good way, I swear. It's smoothed out on the
R&B tip..."

"With Hands And Feet" Remix-EP CD is out now on Multiplex
Music.

i have more russian electronica now - recently got Fizzarum
Monochrome Plural album in mp3 from a friend. It's great. I
was surprised to find out that one track from it, called
microphorus, has the same theme as in Syntetica track
Wetrax. who's remixed who(?)

Matvey - it's not remix, Lena of Syntetika used to play in
Fizzarum years ago, that's why both tracks have the same
melody :)

Just wanna say cheers to the guy who recommended "1" by
Crunch in these threads, it's been on my playlist constantly
since I got it and yes you are right, it's not Russian
(British I believe) but it's certainly got that atmosphere,
dark but melodic melancholic vibe and fantastic sound
design.
While we here anything else new on the Russian (or Russian
sound alike) scene that I should know about.

i must check Crunch then, thanks for the tip! from the
latest Russian releases i highly recommend Dunaewsky 69! it
reminded me Ulrich Schnauss a bit, and also Plaid!! very
nice combination !!! melodic and very emotional. i got mine
here
and if you still haven't checked Mendelayev from Art-Tek
records, you must!! it's one of the best electronic albums
i've ever heard!! i'm sure that someone like WARP would sign
him immediately!!
ok, i'm off to order some Crunch :)

Ganymede - i've been trying to get that one myself, but it
seems that you can't buy it in Europe, and as you said it's
complicated to order directly from DuoTone. maybe there are
other ways?

Matvey - you don't know SolarX ?! he's one of the first (and
best!) electronic artists from Russia! he's been on John
Peel's playlists many times. you must check his album on
Worm Interface - Little Pretty Automatic, and also CHANEL
303 on Hymen.

i don't know him, as well as a lot of other musicians. They
have much worse PR than european and american artists. To
know them one must be willing to search internet for russian
electronica or actively attend small clubs, where they
perform sometimes.

the one behind Art-tek records. he also played on

Timtom,

Well the Duotone site may not have an English version at all
and not have an order form, but apparently you can order by
email and the person who reads them does know English.
Apparently they also accept Paypal. So, I'm crossing my
fingers now that my order goes through smoothly.

Matvey,

I downloaded Kiritchenko's EP "Bees and Honey" and liked it.
Is all of his music the same kind of ambient sound design
stuff? Spasibo i poka,
G

TimTom- I'm having problems seeking out Mendelayev but I'm
on constant lookout, same with Vesna though I do have a
couple of their tracks on compilations.

Hope you manage to get the Crunch album, it was the first CD
on Muzik Aus Strom and unfortunately it's been deleted now
but there are still copies floating around (I got mine in
HMV believe it or not), there is another Crunch album called
"2" but it's mainly remixes and isn't really in the same
league as "1".
A Crunch e.p. also exists that includes a couple of the good
tracks from "1".

i'll probably look for Crunch on eBay, found "2" so far for

"2" is worth 95p, there are about 3 good tracks on it IMO,
cheers for the Mendelayev link and I'll be sure to check
Dunaewsky 69, I'm a massive fan of Plaid and I'm partial to
a bit of U.Schnauss so it sounds like a bit of a must buy.
