michael moore was on george stephanopoulos on sunday
morning... i dunno what the tinfoil hat crowd thinks of abc,
but since that's the only tv i watch, that's basically all i
see. i know stephanopoulos worked in bill clinton's
administration.

anywhoo... he pretty much ripped moore a new one for being
clearly biased. and moore's argument was that he was
billing this movie as an op/ed peice, not a documentary.

i still want to see it, for sure, but i'll view it with the
same skepticism that i have when i watch a political ad.

he makes several clear cut arguments for his opinion. it's
not really just anti-moore rhetoric bashing.

agreed.. to a certain extent.

but i mean, if the reasoning behind your argument is
inherantly flawed.. if not a complete fabrication, then you
should at least be aware of that, no?

basically what you're saying is that it doesn't matter if an
argument is completely bullshit, as long as their message is
against who you are against?

i'm not saying moore's takes is complete rubish, but it is
very much propaganda. and i think it should be evaluated as
such.

I personally don't care if it's spin as long as it's not
spin for The Right, which I am sick of.

The important thing is that this film could have an impact

while i've enjoyed a lot of moore's work, he does seem to be
in danger of sacrificing his integrity for a cause he
clearly believes in passionately.
it's usually best to remain calm and rational in the face of
adversity, however hard that may be.
being rash or reactionnary just undermines your cause.

despite the well-written critique that epohs linked to
earlier, i want to see the film for myself.

we have to accept that everyone is going to be fundamentally
biased on issues like this. and anyone who's going to the
effort of making a piece of public 'info-tainment' about it
is going to be biased.
there are no subjective viewpoints in politics, surely?

no one source should be wholly trusted. but the more
opposing voices we can hear, the clearer picture we will be
able to form.

Apparently Heston didn't raise his gun and do the 'from my
cold dead hands' speech in Columbine weeks after the
killings as Moore illudes to in the film. Another example of
manipulation on Moores part. Sure it's entertaining, but
it's false. The way he pairs it with the conversation with
the guy from south park was grossly stretching the truth. I
hated Heston after that film because of video edits. Bush is
manipulating the public, sure, but so is Moore. Two wrongs
indeed do not make a dog leg to the left and around the
corner.

i always assumed he purposefully used those 'rightwing'
techniques in some sort of 'if you can't beat them, join
them' fashion. don't get me wrong here, i'm not saying moore
is rightwinged or anything, what i'm trying to say is that
he pruposefully uses rightwing tools in benefit of the
leftwing. in other words: it's leftwing propaganda. he
delivers the necessary leftwing propaganda in times where
the rightwing propaganda is dominating.

no one seems to notice the bias inherent in everything when
it conforms with your own ideologies. it's when it contests
them that everyone starts to complain.

I saw Farenheit 9/11 last night. It was great. parts are
very sad. most parts are really aggrivating. It
deffinitely presents a very one sided story but, it mostly
has a feeling of "pulling back the curtain" and letting you
see all the facts in one place.

Like, most of the info presented in the film, the most
damning facts, are facts that we already know. They are
facts that are mostly available to all of us. Michael Moore
just puts them all in a format where you can look at the big
picture and see how the facts are connected.

It is not a lie that the Bush family and Binladin family
have obvious financial ties. It is not a lie that many
business, including those with Bush family and Dick Cheney
ties, are making money hand over fist in this "business of
war."

Haliburton, for example, is a major contractor for civilian
workers in Iraq. Cheney is a former CEO of that company.
It doesn't take a genius to realize that there is a great
potential for conflict of intrest if Cheney is currently
vice president in a war that contracts his old company.

the movie is full of things like this. It presents facts
and then Michael Moore makes comments about them.

We have seen the Republican side of the story. It is about
time the world got to see behind the curtain.
