i bought my first "white stripes" album today and im
totally loving it (i actually didn't know any of their tunes
untill today)...seems like i've been away from rock scene
for far too long (i guess since 94 when nirvana ended). well
i've been listening to some rock artists which i have always
been into, here and there but i haven't been checking much
for new ones and apperantly im missing a lot if there are
other decent musicians alike white stripes. here are some of
the rock bands that i like:
-nirvana
-at the drive in
-mars volta
-melvins
-the doors
-queens of the stone age
-the strokes
-walkabouts
-tindersticks
-nick cave&bad seeds
-pj harvey
-ben harper
and some others which i can't think of right now.

so now i'd love to see if you lovely people that are into
rock could recommend me some other bands that are worth
checking...it would be nice if they were unique at what
they're playing, not too hard (except if it's very good heh)
and not too sweet :)

cheers!

kyuss is members of queens of the stone age, but you might
already know that listening to QOTSA.

None of those are like the White Stripes or Jane's Addiction
(although you might want to listen to Porno For Pyros -
especially 'Pets' - if you haven't already and like JA) but
you might like some of em judging by the bands you listed.
For bands similar to the White Stripes or the Strokes just
turn on MTV2 and you'll find 20 bands in the space of an
hour

Kyuss is less pop orientated, more groove and spaced-out
stylistically. Different singer, more "rock". They've been
my favourite band for 10 years and have some wonderful
songs.

im going to that shop to pick that other white stripes album

town...

With QOTSA I prefer their first album by miles... but it's
the one that's most similar to Kyuss and the least
commercial. You'd probably like the second album 'R', it's
more like 'Songs For The Deaf'. With Kyuss, their last three
albums are considered among the fanbase equally good. I'd
say... 'Sky Valley' probably just has the edge, but it may
be a little harsh for you. Try '...And The Circus Leaves
Town'. It should be cheap too, if you're buying and not
downloading. Of course, you may think it's complete crap,
and you wouldn't be the first...

I'm no big fan of rock it has to be said, but I have an
appreciation for it and can enjoy the odd song.

White Stripes are highly accessible and as such, I like a
few of their tracks.

I'm a rock and roller, first and foremost. Since you like
wimpy stuff like Tindersticks, check out these pansies- The
Pernice Brothers, Arab Strap, Belle and Sebastian (duh), The
Lucksmiths, Aluminum Group, Lambchop, Antony and the
Johnsons, The High Llamas, The Softies, etc. But most of all
The Zombies- Odessey and Oracle, the best thing ever by
anyone, period. What about the Kinks, do you like them? Ray
Davies was shot recently.
