4) yes. mainly online, preferably independent / underground newsletters.
5) yes.
6) yes. my first release was the 12-track classic "Welcome to Gusland." i sold it by myself and through cdbaby for a while.
7) about 200 or so at least - this includes people who bought Gusland, and peeps on this board. also, i've started noticing some props dropped to me by people i don't even know, who know me from the Intikrec _MUZIK_ Compilation.

motivation... its all in the head, when i think of something, it stays there until i can record it, write it down etc.
but its far more personal for me, i'm not into really giving it out or making a career from making music. its more of a release for me... sometimes i share it with my bro, he usually takes it and evolves on it.
heh, he should answer some of these questions

1) do you send demos out frequently (once every couple of weeks or every month)?
Ive yet to send out any demos. Im not going to do it, until I feel confident enough that my stuff is good enough to be picked up somewhere.
how many have you sent out in the last year?
nien 2) do you pursue airplay on internet / independent radio? (non-commercial radio) if so, how often? I dont persue it, but Ive had my tracks played once or twice, on friends programs.
3) how often do you participate in self-promotion?
Whenever I have a new track, I promote it. 4) do you mail your music to musical-based journalistic publications? (online or offline)
Nope 5) do you participate in remix contests and compilations? When I have the time, yes.
6) have you ever attempted to publish a tangible form of your music (cd, cdr, tape) on your own?
In the process now. Although kind of on hold, due to lots of school work. But I WILL put a CD out.
7) how many "fans" would you say you have?
No idea. Fans in the sense that they really truely like my stuff? Maybe 6-7. Fans as in, they like my stuff, or appriciate it... who knows.

1) do you send demos out frequently (once every couple of weeks or every month)? how many have you sent out in the last year?
i sent out a demo 3 weeks ago but heard nothing in response. i was hoping for there to be one, and since there wasnt, i see no reason in putting the stuff out via any other venue. if it wasnt good enough for them, its not good enough to be put out at all.
2) do you pursue airplay on internet / independent radio? (non-commercial radio) if so, how often?
if they ask me for a recorded gig i'll let them have it. but no idont go around contacting radioshows goin 'here's my stuff checkit!'
if they're not interested in the first place, they wont be at all after that.
3) how often do you participate in self-promotion?
constantly.
4) do you mail your music to musical-based journalistic publications? (online or offline)
when i have a few copies lying around and know which ones to send to.
5) do you participate in remix contests and compilations?
yes but not too often anymore.
6) have you ever attempted to publish a tangible form of your music (cd, cdr, tape) on your own?
yes. put out a cdr bak in 1999.
7) how many "fans" would you say you have?
less than a lot.

1) do you send demos out frequently (once every couple of weeks or every month)? how many have you sent out in the last year? I have sent out/handed out about 100 demos this year mostly to friends but also to a bunch of college radiostations and record labels. also, i also send them to prettymuch anyone who asks for one, free of charge.
2) do you pursue airplay on internet / independent radio? (non-commercial radio) if so, how often? yes, see above
3) how often do you participate in self-promotion? I've only really done any self promotion this year. aside from the demos, i don't do it very regularly
4) do you mail your music to musical-based journalistic publications? (online or offline) nope
5) do you participate in remix contests and compilations? yep
6) have you ever attempted to publish a tangible form of your music (cd, cdr, tape) on your own? i have only produced my 4 track demo with album artwork. limited to 200 hand numbered copies. I have about 100 left ;)
7) how many "fans" would you say you have? very few aside from my friends.

1) do you send demos out frequently (once every couple of weeks or every month)? how many have you sent out in the last year?
I have never sent any demos out. I'm still trying to make something demo-worthy.
2) do you pursue airplay on internet / independent radio? (non-commercial radio) if so, how often?
Sort of. I recently sent a 5 trk CD-R to Donna Summer for AD&D. Haven't done anything else like that.
3) how often do you participate in self-promotion?
Not very often. Occasionally, on this board, I'll make a thread about something if I like it.
4) do you mail your music to musical-based journalistic publications? (online or offline)
No.
5) do you participate in remix contests and compilations?
I don't really like doing remixes. I've been on a couple of the mp3 comps here. That's it.
6) have you ever attempted to publish a tangible form of your music (cd, cdr, tape) on your own?
No.
7) how many "fans" would you say you have?
I really don't know, but I can promise you, there aren't many at all, if any.

I've done 3 batches of demo cd. About twice a year on average.
2) do you pursue airplay on internet / independent radio? (non-commercial radio) if so, how often?
I don't actively seek it out.
3) how often do you participate in self-promotion?
I don't, mainly because it gets on my tits when other people do it to excess.
4) do you mail your music to musical-based journalistic publications? (online or offline)
I think I did once.
5) do you participate in remix contests and compilations?
Sometimes, but only if I like the competition/prize/theme.
6) have you ever attempted to publish a tangible form of your music (cd, cdr, tape) on your own?
Nope, but I will almost certianly be releasing a drum and bass 12" EP/single this time next year.
7) how many "fans" would you say you have?
Few, but I have met people in real life who have heard my stuff outside me having spammed it.

students (it's a college radio station) sometimes wander in or call to ask what's playing and i give them all the info i know.. as far as online goes, it depends on the timeslot. a year ago when i was on monday nights my radio show threads would get 100+ posts almost every week. sunday morning this past spring was also popular because people in the UK and all around europe and other continents could listen easily as it was in their late afternoon or evening (no students listened because everyone sleeps in till noon and that's when my show would finish). those thread often got 100+ posts too. this semester i have a slot in the middle of a weekday (today) so it sucks for everyone because they're at work or in class. but in the spring i might have another good timeslot and your music will be heard by a lot of people (it broacasts for about a 20 mile radius and it's a pretty popular station so maybe up to 1000 radio listeners on a good day, 150 on a day where i'm playing stuff that's "unlistenable". no idea how many people are listening online...).
