you cant find HQ scans or sound clips from every track on a
given release in such mass quantities anywhere else as far
as i know..

this is why i was such a fan of .nu and how i got to this mb
in the first place...

Right now? Neither. Actually I'm urinating in my plant's pot

I water it.

Very interesting... I like the approach alot - not like most
disocgraphies. It will really shine when more info is
there.

Did TuneMX write this himself, or was it based off existing
software (not that it's a bad thing or anything)?

Keep up the good work, and glad you're finally showing us
the fruits of your labour!

cool!

btw, you can use CTRL+click to select multiple items, like
AUTECHRE and GESCOM, and display the results. Even SEAN
BOOTH + GAK is possible to select. :)

As you might have notice, choosing RICHARD D JAMES would
include all his alieases in the search results.

It's nice to see that so much work is going into this, I'd
like to add a few names to that list myself... (as phobia

now I understand why he's so hesitant to add more, he's
already got his hands full, mass respect to tunemx and the
rest of the crew..

the boxes you pick your names from

WAY TO FUCKING SMALL !!

make about twice that size, my 0.02

Phobiazero~~~
Do you have to get permission to play 30 second to 1 minute
snippets ?

offline Phobiazero from the next Xltronic (Sweden) on 2003-08-07 09:25 [#00813014]
Points: 10507 Status: Webmaster | Followup to recycle: #00813009 | Show recordbag

it is a good question and I have investigated a lot into
this (of course). sometimes you need permission but
sometimes not. many labels are happy to get some free
advertising of their music. 30-60 secs in a very low quality
audio isnt something people would download and burn on a cd.
by hosting the samples I HOPE that people will discover new
artist and buy the records. thats the point really. we do
not intend to break any copyright rules. on the contrary,
hopefully our visitors would avoid to download high quality
mp3 tracks, but instead stream our small low quality samples
and get convinced to buy the album.

if a label disagree with this, well, too bad for them. they
are not doing themself a favour - believe me.

many of the artists i've been talking to on "big" labels
like Warp are totally happy with this and aware of the
samples. they understand the necessarity of being heard by
new potential buyers.

what if you find an interesting release in the discography
and there are no samples. would you download the high
quality tracks off soulseek instead? very possible. having
samples will at least cut off 50% of the "rippers".

it also depends on whether its OOP, unreleased or recorded
live.... there are many cases.

i still love you

do you see where i am coming from as far as the boxes w/the
selections being way to small?

and when you hit the back button, it bumps you up to the top
of the list again, instead of the last artist you were
looking at (i.e. gescom)

thanks,recycle,me,thad,i

i do not reckon the boxes are too small. are you talking
about width or height?

anyway, the previous selected items should remain selected,
even when you click on Back. make sure to scroll down the
alias list and check whether 'gescom' is still selected or
not.

width is just fine, the heigth bothers me, the scroll boxes
are to small, a little bigger maybe ?

yeah the "gescom" example is fine now.

great stuff to be left out. Excellent work, can't wait for
