You know what, I don't even have to say it this time, because now its just ridiculously obvious, stop trolling titsworth. Phobiazero might have to invest in a standalone server for the message board search engine, with the launch of the full site the overhead from the cgi engine he has now might max out the bandwidth. And compressing the entire message board archive would max out the bandwidth fast. Because that is just another giant chunk of data being transfered. There is no one answer that can magically solve the problem. And I can see this leading to more frequent non-temporary bans in the future. Are you running this site from a server that you own or a from a hosting company? |

Phob is on a dedicated server, so he has more storage space and bandwidth (most dedicated hosts give 400GB+ per month). You lot shouldn't have any problems with bandwidth, even when all the content goes online. watmm's just grown too big for it's current host - I've started adding real content to the site, (like all the audio files in the discog and live shows, etc.), so now the 25GB a month my hosting plan allocated is not sufficient. No worries, as I have found a new host that offers 100GB a month for a bit more than what I was paying before, plus double the storage space. watmm will be back up June 1st, so hang in there! Enjoy xlt's forum in the meantime. |

And giginger, nice stupid quip you just made there, ;) If you are just totally oblivious to the fact that this site has ZERO content besides a messageboard that forgot there was a life outside Warp records, then I understand. Otherwise, your just another lameass who likes to "take sides".... I was merely stating that the small amount of files and the lesser trafficed message board eating up all the bandwidth was a worry. If the site is going to hold all those videos and pictures and sound files like it looks like it will then surely the site needs an massiv increase in bandwidth allowance? That's all I'm saying. It was not a dig at watmm.com. I like the site and look forward to what's promised in the future. I'm sorry if you took my comments the wrong way. I know that this site has very little content at the moment, I wouldn't say ZERO. There's some downloads on the front page though and a very good messageboard. Thank you to ecnadniarb and nacmat for defending me in my absnce. :D |
