yeh word has it theyll all be made available after the
qualifications have gone thru

i hope they drop the anonymity for the unqualified tracks
:)

offline tibbar from harrisburg, pa (United States) on 2003-04-22 12:15 [#00663274]
Points: 10513 Status: Lurker

the anonymity thing is kinda ridiculous, but if thats how
they want it... i dont care, after this contest is over,
that crap is going up on zebox. i didnt spend all that time
on my mixes just to not put them up. imma wave my freak-flag
loud and proud!!!!

offline w M w from London (United Kingdom) on 2003-04-22 12:26 [#00663296]
Points: 21456 Status: Regular

I'm almost positive it'll be some unknown person. We'll be
like who the hell is "anon434yyip"? Even after winning
they'll remain elusive. Maybe they'll respond with a couple
minimally functional sentences providing a link to some more
of their music to people eager for more of their material.

Points: 7983 Status: Lurker | Followup to tibbar: #00663274

yeah. i think its fair enuf for the top 15.. bit of
mystery.. my other thought is that the listener might think
they can tell who is who..

unqualified material tho, yeah im assuming it will not be
anon :)

offline w M w from London (United Kingdom) on 2003-04-22 12:29 [#00663307]

Of course you can share it publicly after the contest. It's
YOUR track. I think anonymity for the contest makes it more
fair though.

i named mine blatantly (honestly) and it got knocked back
from mp3.com.au

this is good tho. still have my anon, i tried out of panic
on the deadline :)

offline w M w from London (United Kingdom) on 2003-04-22 12:42 [#00663334]

If we weren't anonymous, everyone would automatically vote
for me for the single unfair reason that I am the coolest,
wittiest and funniest poster. If we are anonymous though,
nobody can be biased by this. They'd just vote for me
because I have the best track... hmm, now I see your
point... it is unfair to everybody else (who isn't
me).

seriously, i like my own remixes very much... the second one
a bit less cause i couldn't end it cause the deadline was to
close...

but i think that from the people i know (now talking about
this motherfuckers who joined the board only to take part
!!)
yes i think that wmw will make it...

he would just have to replace the samples from "my bloody
vacuum cleaner" with some autechre samples and we got a
winner...

seriously (second time) i think you, wmw will get the price
mate !!

must agree.

reminds me of an old mate of mine, should he have kept doing

my arrogant mind control is working! My track
is odd, I think it's maybe my best in quality, but it's
maybe not my best in simple aural pleasure. I don't mind if
people join just to take part. I'd join some other board to
do this if I knew about it. Well that's cool that you think
I might win. I'm just kidding wneh I act arrogant, obviously
because I suck ass. That's another thing, I like to describe
my music either as arrogantly insanely over-the-top awesome,
or insanely , uh, under-the-top sucktified. Either extreme
is an interesting place and I'm indifferent as to which one,
so long as I'm not in the middle.

Well having just listened to my track using the MP3 I
submitted I now hold no faith in my mix. It sounds terrible
:(
I don't know why the levels are all fucked up so you can't
hear the changes as well so it sounds too similar. FUCK
IT!!!!!!!!

I wonder what the copyright issues will be on these mixes.
Will we be able to include them on personal releases or do
they become property of autechre? xltronic?

He he, I probably shouldn't say this, being a mod and all,
but I'd hate to see it go:

1) SomeNewAccountMadeForTheAE-
Competition
2) Chris Ochre
3) SM Pennyworth

There would be a lot of bad feeling that "our boys" had been
beaten by outsiders...

"OMG ROXOR" about it, but either way i had fun with my mix.

Poor spookyluke... couldnt do his remix because his monitor
broke and he refused to use MY computer. :| He was so
excited about this contest. :(

However, hes getting a new computer this weekend. Its really
nice... Im not sure the kind, but it has Windows XP (I
think) and 80 gigs of space. ^_^ Woo hoo! Best Buy, here we
come!

I think it might be quite common that some existing board
members signed up under a new name to submit a remix, and
thus, by anonimity, avoid embarasment if everybody else in
the English-speaking world decides that their remix is
shite.

I know I did!

So if an unknown board member wins, it won't necessarily
mean that they're a newcomer who'll never be seen again, and
in the (mind-buggeringly unlikely) event that I even get
into the chosen 15 or 16 or whatever it was, I'll own up
which is mine. But if I don't, I will just let it die with
what little dignity it had!

(And I should point out that, despite being a mod, I have no
involvement in the voting process whatsoever. I think myself
and Ceri are the only two mods entering the comp, but there
may be others. So let's hear no cries of "fix! it's a swiz"
etc :D)

Anyone who was smart enough to bribe the webmasters to fuck
up all tracks but his own. HA HA HA, I imagine Phobiazero
converting all tracks to RealAudio because AeCompEntry paid
him $1000, Sean and Rob will see it and be like "wtf?! we're
not going to d/l that shit, hit delete maetl.. oh, one sane
guy there! let's take a listen and mail Phob we got a
winner"

the top 15 will be anonymous to avoid cheating - but they
will all be revealed when the voting is over. all the other
tracks will be available for download after the voting is
done - but they wont be anonymous.
