Xltronica Music Massacre

I think this idea from the SoulSeek Record Label
is really cool. This would be a really fun way for some
Xltronic artists to show what they got.

"One Minute Massacre, the second release from Soulseek
Records, is built from a simple concept: each artist creates
1-2 minutes of music which is then passed to the next
artist, who smoothly (or not so smoothly) picks up from the
end and attaches another 1-2 minutes of his or her own. Two
sets, each totaling roughly a half hour of continual sonic
mutation."

personality and creativity.

How is this any different from the xltronic mix featuring
artists on here?

I guess its just a min long, I could mix it in traktor
studio if you guys want when its all done

its moe like a collaboration than a compilation. Sorta like
everyone gets a patch on the quilt. I wouldn have it just
simply beat matched in the end though though. Everyone would
get the 1 or 2 minutes of the previous trackand work from
there, either transorming the beat fluidly into their own
style or just doing whatever.

offline diablo on 2003-01-27 08:33 [#00530158]

from the word massacre I got the impression it would be far
more cut'n'paste which is something i'm into. It might not
be pretty, but who knows it could be amazing.

most of my tracks are only 2 mins long anyway. I'm into the
idea, 1-2 minutes is just long enuf to get something really
individual across. maybe.

offline NeoExmnist from United States on 2003-01-27 08:33 [#00530159]

can be between 1 or 2 minutes.

we should start some tripod or angelfire site to put all the
mixes on for download and upload....but thats not enough
space

offline diablo on 2003-01-27 08:41 [#00530169]

offline Dolleater from Afrika Bambaataa on 2003-01-27 08:46 [#00530177]

Directions:

The first artist will compose a 1-2 minute peice

The next artist will smoothly (or not so smoothly) picks up
from the
end and attaches another 1-2 minutes of his or her own.

Use any elements from the previous tracks.

The transition to your track can be either subtle or
apearent.

offline Dolleater from Afrika Bambaataa on 2003-01-27 08:48 [#00530180]
Points: 4819 Status: Addict

hows that sound? The first artist should have two spots in
the peice since he gets screwed out of most of the fun
transitioning. whoever that person is might set the pace for
the track.

I'm up for that. Maybe to combat the size of the file. We
make someone "in Charge". They get all the files and put
them together. Here's the clever bit. We decide the order
beforehand. Then when each person has done their bit we send
the last 15 secs or so of our track to the next person
along. Then people with dial-up don't have such a problem
with file size and so on.

Great idea man!! So after the first person finishes we send
the next person the last 15 seconds or so. So know who is in
charge and how are we picking the order?

I say we get some more responses before we figure out the
structure..

Some smart-ass motherfucker may have some kick ass idea on
how to go about everything.

i think im gunna go ahead and try to make a section today,
but leave space in the beginning for a fade in. this could
be a rad thing if its pulled off.

What if we all stuck with the same bpm, so no matter how
different the tracks are.. they will mix together...

hell yeah egt VARIED!! thats the whole point, the fun is in
the transitioning and how you either compliment or insult
the previous track. Neo id wait untill you hear what comming
before you, i plan on chopping the previous track to shreds
if its weak. :D

I mean you could also beat match and continue a bit of the
previous beat and start to replace the sounds, you could
change the rythm out of now where. there are lots of
possibilites.
