Inverted Whale, this is just an excellent idea..You can count
on me on anything I can do...But a question..did u ask
Phobiazero and Co. about it????What they think about it???
It will be an excellent system for just us the Xltronic
users...We would have passwords and we could even pay at
least 5.00 usd per month for "Total access" is even good
enough to avoid legal problems...Any thought on this Mr
Inverted Whale or anyone?

Just to set the record straight, this p2p server is not
affilated with xltronic.com in any way.

It's for electronic music fans. We have several members who
are not xltronic members but who enjoy electronic music.

There will never be a charge for usage of this server.

But it is one hell of server. There has become quite a
decent selection of things to choose from.

There have been a few problems connecting to the server with
the WinMX and Xnap clients when people have lots of files to
share (> 5000).

I tested another client called "Network Sunshine." It is
OpenNap only and seems to work well with large collections.

If you're having trouble give this a try. You can download
it here.

Is this program free of spyware? I'm guessing it is, but
maybe you already know the answer.

I ran Spybot S&D on the system afterward and it didn't
detect anything, so this one is probably safe.

i would also love to set up a file share server. but my
parents dont want broadband in the house. i have loads of
computers lying around, and i already have a apache/linux
server in my room for my home network. if anyone wants to
fund a ADSL line to my house, then i will setup a server:)
ps Inverted: your server kicks ass. i downloaded all of HAB
of it a couple months back. best quality mp3s :)

If you've already posted in this thread and you want to join
a new file sharing community that I'm starting, please email
the address in my profile.

This is an experimental "friend to friend" network. There
will be several lossless audio fanatics in this community -
if that causes you distress you might not want to join.

If you haven't posted in this thread, you can email me
anyway - who knows, you could get lucky :)

If you talk to some of the folks who have been with us for
the last six years they'd tell you what you say is
nonsense.

It's a bit sad, because what we're building is a
web-of-trust network that people can feel a bit safer in. I
hope you reconsider.

have you tried the new test versions of slsk? they have
private room functions, which are invite only and good for
this kind of thing. obviously theres private torrent sites
and ftp too.

which protocal are you using?

I haven't used soulseek in a long time. I'm a bit wary of
networks with central servers.

We're using Alliance for the network, which we
selected after testing a few different clients. It is
decentralized and its file transfer protocol is similar to
bittorrent.

anyone on the board is interested in joining our network
just send me an email.

We're still looking for more people to share and grow the
network. More people make network very happy!

I didn't really explain the advantages of the p2p client we
are using very well.

All chat and uploading/downloading is encrypted - no
snooping or bandwidth throttling by your ISP. Downloads use
multiple sources for high speed. There's no central server -
it's your network and you can invite your own friends to
join.

Send me an email or post here if you want to join up.
